Took me longer this year so I could see a few more Reinbacher games as he's given me a lot of trouble trying to figure out. and since the vids take hours to make I cut the list down to 15. I left out Heineman since he hasn't played all year, Miller, Tourigny and Mittelstadt since I haven't seen them play live yet as they wouldn't make the top 15 anyway most likely.
Top 15
1. Lane Hutson
2. Joshua Roy
3. Logan Mailloux
4. Adam Engstrom
5. David Reinbacher
6. Sean Farrell
7. Jacob Fowler
8. Owen Beck
9. Bogdan Konyuskov
10. Florian Xhekaj
11. Filip Mesar
12. Jayden Struble
13. Yevgeni Volokhin
14. Luke Tuch
15. William Trudeau
HM - Kidney, Dobes, Kapanen, Guindon, Simoneau, Pitlick
As far as the defensemen are concerned, I would personally rank them that way:
1-Reinbacher
2-Engstrom
3-Konyuskov
4-Hutson
5-Mailloux
6-Struble
Hutson is fun to watch in the NCAA, but struggling on the defensive end. The defensive side of his game will be even more exposed as he reaches the pros. So what do we get at that point, a third pairing defenseman and PP specialist? Hard to justify ranking him higher than Reinbacher, Engstrom who are much more complete IMO.
Im not too concerned about Reinbacher's slow start in the NL, which is a very good pro league played on big ices. Kid battled through some knees issues as well. I watched him last sunday and looked great.
As for the fowards, they are harder to rank for me. Roy has slowed down quite a bit lately and his differential among the worst on the team. Heineman injured, Mesar tearing up the OHL ect.
I think Owen Beck is the safest bet, but his celling probably limited to a third line role and PKer. So I would tend to rank Mesar higher who I believe has the tools for a top 6 role after some seasoning.
I didnt watch Laval much, but Farrell had a tough camp, the lack of explosiveness and strength at that size is concerning.
I would have a hard time ranking one of the fowards over our top D prospects personally.
As for the goaltenders, I think both Fowler and Volokhin could end up as potential steals, Volokhin has the biggest frame and moves quite well.
Overall, I think thats a pretty hard group to rank and pretty underrated prospects pool. I like that we have some potential homerun picks.
