So too start i'm going too give a brief explanation for each pick. Then I will be addressing why I wont be picking certain popular players. This is MY opinion about the top 3 forwards, top 2 defenders and the top goalie. Also I'm not going to be position conscious, meaning I may choose 2 left defenders no RHD or I might have 2 left wingers and a center, maybe no center so on and so forth
Forwards:
Grigori Denisenko
The x-First Round 15th overall pick had a great tourney for Russia being a consistent force for them the entire time putting up numbers for them consistently through the entire tourney scoring in 6 of their 7 games throughout the tourney. Without having the most play time out of forwards be was a impact every time he was out there.
Aleksi Heponiemi
The young Fin was a key piece in the Finish success this tournament being consistently strong all over the ice having an assist in the finals to help lead the Fins too a gold medal. scoring in 5 games out of 7 Heponiemi played a massive part in the quarters against Canada having a goal and an assist in the 2-1 victory against Canada.
Philipp Kurashev
Leading the tourney in goals with 6 goals in 7 games played awesome the whole tourney. Swiss had a good run this tourney and it was piloted by him, with the second highest amount of goals being only 3.
Notable:
Ryan Poehling
Slepets Kirill
Alexander Chmelevski
Jason Robertson
The reason that they were not put in my top 3 is because of inconsistency. Poehling and Robertson were held scoreless in USA's last 2 games and Robertson having one assist in the Czech game.
Kirill was good, very good. Even getting a hat trick in the Switzerland game I just think Kurashev needed too be in there because of how well he did on a weaker team.
Chemelevski was really hard not too include, he was clutch throughout the Entire tourney and was a driving force behind their almost comeback in the finals against Finland
Defence:
Alexander Romanov
Leading defensive scoring with 8 points in 7 games. being hands down the best defender in the tourney it would be a crime not too involve him
Mikey Anderson
Consistently leading his team in TOI and being a consistent defensive wall while still putting up a nice amount of points. Anderson was definitely a major force in the USA defense that helped lead them too the finals against Finland
Notable:
Alexander Alexeyev
Henri Jokiharju
Martin Fehervary
All 3 were very good defenders and Jokiharju could be swapped for Anderson easily but I felt like I noticed Anderson more. Alexeyev was strong but I didn't want to have Romanov and him as the top 2 and having 5 points in 5 games as a defender on a struggling team like Slovakia is impressive, thats exactly what Martin Fehervary has
Goalie:
Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen
I had to chose between Primeau and Luukonen in my opinion, as good as Dipietro was I felt like it had to be between the U.S.A starter and the Finland starter. after looking at the stats at a glance Primeau has a lower GAA and a higher SVS% (Slightly) but looking farther into it Luukkonen had the highest Power Play Goals Against with 5 while Primeau only has 2. With this in mind not very often can you blame the goalie when you get scored on while on the PK and Luukkonen also had the most saves other then the Kazakhstanian goalie Yeremeyev. with both of these stats in mind i give Luukkonen the slight edge on Primeau
