If that PP we saw yesterday was trash, I don't ever want to face Sweden when they have an actually working PP.

Our PP before last game was terriable, 3 goals on 21 op and we could barly enter the offensive zone. Was painfull to see. :shakehead

It worked against the finns tho. Hope it works today aswell.

And Nylander is the mvp.

I'd like to give it to Bäckström, he has been the best player this tournament. He made Nylander so much better.

Only reason not to give it to Bäckström is that he joined too late. But he has been the best player, by far, in every single game he participated in, which I think is more important than how many round robin games he played.

Knowing that this is the Worlds Championships that we are talking about the MVP will probably be someone who clearly does not deserve it. Laine winning it last year was a absolute joke! Forget about being the best in the tournament, dude was not even the best player on his team. I am convinced they did not even watch the games.

IMO it wasn't bad at all. He was the most valuable player for his team. Finland has always struggled with scoring because our players have been pass-first guys. The fact that they finally had someone who they could trust to put the puck in net was huge for team spirit. (And he did produce quite well, on top of his points in round robin stage he also made a great pass on the GWG against Russia).

Surely he wasn't the best player in the tournament. But who would have been a better fit? Team Canada was (again, sigh) so strong that no single player made much difference. I saw no single player in that tournament (in any team) who would have been more crucial for a team's success.

Hands-down the best choice for MVP? No. But definitely far from horrible.

Canada s deeper. Nylander has been way more important individually to his team.

Fair enough. I disagreed then and nothing has changed, it does help that the tournament is fairly recent as its hard to remember these kind of things a few years later. Koskinen, Barkov and Koivu were all more key for Finland. Don't get me wrong Laine was vital as well but nearly all of his points came against weaker opponents and he had a bunch of games where he did not play particularly well but production is always great and tends to make people overlook these kinds of things. Laine came into the tournament with a ridiculous amount of hype especially from Finland where the media acted like he was far and away the biggest star on the team, understandable as he was the biggest prospect coming out of Finland in ages but it was ridiculous

I'm quite convinced that they don't watch closely. They picked Matheson as top defenceman and he was on Canada's third pairing and was less valuable than Ellis, Rielly, Murray and Tanev. That is also the reason that I think that they might mick MacKinnon over O'Reilly if they pick a Canadian. O'Reilly has been the best Canadian, but MacKinnon has more points.

Mackinnon would be nice as he was left off of the best 3 players list for some reason.

I wondered if they left MacKinnon off because they anticipate that he will at least be on the tournament all star team. It's a stupid reason, but I can't understand how Scheifele could be picked over MacKinnon.

Should be Panarin, maybe Nylander

Can't pick anybody on Canada because when Canada excels nobody stands out. They are always team oriented whey they are successful in a tournament

Canadian won tournaments and the tournament MVP
2010 Olympics: Ryan Miller (USA)
2014 Olympics: Teemu Selanne (FIN)
2015 Worlds: Jaromir Jagr (CZE)
2016 Worlds: Patrik Laine (FIN)

Canada does not base their success off a single good line or a great individual effort. They are so deep that nobody stands out and they can ride good team play to a championship

Its because they pull names out of a hat.

Tyson Barrie:laugh:

Just kidding. Should be Parayko. If Canada wins, it shouldn't even be close. Canada was terrible without Barrie. Adding Parayko was key for the improvement of this team. Also played heavy minutes from the beginning. Best defenseman of the tournament...both offensively and defensively.

If Sweden wins it, I guess you can argue that Panarin should be considered unless another forward really scores in bunches in this final.

A swing and a miss...congrats Nylander!

Nylander deserved it for sure. Best forward on Sweden by far, and no D really stood out from the pack. Lundqvist and Bäckström didn't play enough games.

14 points.. Second best on the team had 7. Also +11, second best had +8. Also lead the team in GWG and SOG.
