I'd give it to Nylander if I had to decide on it before tomorrow. Bäckström hasn't played enough games IMO, otherwise he'd be up there.

Nylander is only 2 pts behind but has 3 more goals(#1 in the tournament for goals). He also has twice as many points as the #2 scorer on Sweden (Lindholm who has 7) and led his team to the finals. Panarin's next closest teammate is Kucherov with 14 points.

Easily Nylander right now. Hopefully he seals the deal with a strong performance against Canada.

Probably Nylander or MacKinnon. The winning team tomorrow may factor into it. I wonder if they will make a decision as ridiculous as selecting Matheson as top defenceman when he was on the third pairing and probably the fifth best Canadian defenceman last year.

It will depend on the outcome of the Gold medal game.

I don't really think that's the case. Laine won MVP despite having 6 less points than the points leader and lost in the Finals.

Nylander has been better than any Canadian forward in this tournament. Win or lose, he should be the MVP of the tournament.

Maybe he should be but he might not be.

Say he gets shut out tomorrow and if say Mac has a big game with a tournament winner he might get edged out.

Far stranger things have happened.

He's not a lock.

When is the vote? There's the Directorate Awards and the media awards, I can't remember if they're voted at the same times or not.

Nylander and MacKinnon have the same amount of points. I would vote Nylander today, but that could change after the Gold medal game (i.e. MacKinnon tears it up, O'Rielly scores another game winner).

Would be hilarious if MacK won MVP while not being named one of the teams top 3 players (he wasn't).

Nylander is the MVP as of now. Believe 11-12 of his points are at even strength as Sweden's PP is trash.

I think "MVP" should be awarded for the player who has had the most impact on team's success. Often it goes hand in hand with total points, but not always. Sometimes it is about a single player being the difference-maker by scoring 2 or 3 important goals while unifying and motivating the team. For example Selänne in Sochi 2014.

That said, it should be Nylander or MacKinnon. Both have stepped up and played their best when it mattered.

If that PP we saw yesterday was trash, I don't ever want to face Sweden when they have an actually working PP.

ROR or Nylander - can't decide. Nylanders skills are of course off the charts but ROR does everything for this Canadian team. They both deserve it imo.

HM: Panarin

If Sweden wins, Nylander.

If Canada wins, I'd go with ROR. I feel his impact has been exceptional even more so than Mackinnon.
