Probably not. He is well liked in Winnipeg and due to his combination of skill, experience, forechecking, willingness to go into the dirty areas and versatility, he is actually a pretty valuable piece for the Jets.

The other nice thing is that he's still good enough that he'd be pretty attractive to LV. So if too many of the Jets' non-exempt young forwards moderately exceed expectations he can be sacrificed to the expansion draft.

As a Jets fan, I'm open to trading Perreault. He won't be had for cheap and we don't want cap dumps like DD or Emelin. They hold no value to Winnipeg. If you can't offer a deal that makes sense for Winnipeg, then move along.

Only way I can see us trading him is if Armia comes back and keeps up his form. Then we will probably trade him instead of letting him go to the expansion draft.

What are the Jets needs?

While I doubt Perrault will be moved anytime soon we are short on impact defense prospects. I would think Julsen would likely need to be a part of the package. What does Montreal have for bottom pairing defenseman currently?

One poster claims it wouldn't take an over-payment and then we have this.
You wouldn't get Juulsen let alone adding to him for Perrault.

I don't see how Julsen is an overpayment but that's my opinion. We have no reason to trade him so if you don't like it cool.

Also why wouldn't it take a good offer, he just extended with us this past summer and is well liked by the org. He is also incredibly versatile. I think it would take a decent amount to pry him out.

Not interested at all. Don't need another Desharnais in our team. Actually, he's even worse than poor little DD.

Perreault has 25 hits this season in 15 games. Desharnais has 1 in 25.

Perreault averages more hits per game than any Canadiens regular outside Shaw.

Why would a team trade a fairly important player signed on a long term contract for that at this point in the season?

It sounds like the answer is they wouldn't. Thought with Little coming back that he might be expendable. Guess not.

That said if Perrault was traded I don't see his value being more than that. Guess you're saying you'd only move him for an overpayment. That's ok, we'all look elsewhere.

Whether he goes for more or less I have no idea. But if he goes it will be in a hockey trade.

Jets will not treat a guy they re-signed to a 4 year deal as surplus before that contract even comes into effect.

Perreault is, at least at this point in his career, a highly effective player. But probably just as important, he is a guy that Jets management have chosen to keep around to set a good example for all their young forwards.

There are some veteran forward that are, in all honest, already surplus. Burmistrov, Stafford and Thorburn are on that list.

After Wheeler and Little (and Scheifele if you count him a vet) Perreault is the Jets most important veteran forward.
