Way way underrated. In the playoff, it's usually the 2nd/3rd line that would make the difference in a series. Gallagher will be a perfect 3rd line winger in a Cup contending team.Gallagher is underrated.

It's actually the opposite.Leadership needs to change with the Habs.
Matheson, Anderson, Dvorak, Gally all gotta go
Only Savard and Evans makes sense to keep atm.
But here we talked about 50% retaining. For a little more than 3M, I think it's a very good deal and all the Habs got was a 4th/5th round pick? The Habs has no issue with the cap and they have a very young team. Leadership and show young players how to play the game properly worth much more than a late pick. Not on the PP so doesn't get to rack up points there to make the casuals fall in love.
And a hefty contract.
perfect recipe to be underrated
I mean he’s 32 and a half years and plays a punishing game that leads to injuries and likely not much longer playing at this level and he is significantly overpaid.Gallagher is underrated.
He's playing far, far better this year, but no one should confuse competence with attractiveness as an asset or value to other teams.I mean he’s 32 and a half years and plays a punishing game that leads to injuries and likely not much longer playing at this level and he is significantly overpaid.
Would have been a great pickup in his prime though.
At 3.25, he's not overpaid. Far from it. I do agree that Vancouver isn't the right landing spot.Vancouver really doesn't need an overpaid 3rd liner. A defence upgrade and/or a bona fide Top-6 forward are the obvious needs. Anything else is probably...not really worth doing. In fact, with Dakota Joshua coming back...they can reunite one of the best third lines in the league, which plays hard, structured, gritty hockey and scores at a more or less Top-6 rate at even strength.
I also don't really think Montreal would necessarily want to move Gallagher either. His cap isn't really an issue for them right now and he's a perfect culture carrier/tone setter/role model in his effort and work ethic.
No reason for either team to do this.
Amazing...............what stupid GM did that eh....the guy running for coffee and bagels in LA!! lolYikes
Gallagher is making $9 mill in salary this season

We've been hearing that for 10 years now and somehow he's still having a good year. Don't get me wrong, he's falling off, but he's a very valuable player to have around any organization if you can look past his contract.I mean he’s 32 and a half years and plays a punishing game that leads to injuries and likely not much longer playing at this level and he is significantly overpaid.

Make an offer. I'm more receptive to a Matheson trade than many other Habs fans. He's a good, but nothing special player. Think of him as your 2nd pair anchor (#3D) and go from there. The only way this makes any sense for Vancouver is we included Heinen too since he's essentially the player Gallagher would replace. However, that makes even less sense for Montreal.
It just isn't a good target for us. Matheson is the player we'd have interest in, not Gallagher
Get ready for the standard Canucks offer of Hoglander, Soucy/Forbort/Juulsen and a 2nd.Make an offer. I'm more receptive to a Matheson trade than many other Habs fans. He's a good, but nothing special player. Think of him as your 2nd pair anchor (#3D) and go from there.
We've got our own similar counter offers.Get ready for the standard Canucks offer of Hoglander, Soucy/Forbort/Juulsen and a 2nd.
He rode an unsustainable shooting percentage to an overpriced contract last year. There's nothing he brings to tge table that Montréal doesn't have or have comingWe've got our own similar counter offers.
In all seriousness, Hoglander is definitely an acceptable add-on, but I think Vancouver should keep him. He's got Lehkonen vibes.
You would have to take back Myers to make it work.Gallagher is a Vancouver fan,
He is still kicking good, overpaid yes but a real good 3rd liner and a playoff play type of player, charging the net.
What if MTL retained 50% , pretty sure he's got a bit of value at that price.
And tbh he is fun to Watch play.
MTL : Gally (50%)
