It is not.

Plekanec holds little value, as does your 1st. Galchenyuk isn't up there either, when Tavares is the target.

with no contract extension garanteed tavares isnt worth galchenyuk, i know people will laugh but it would be poor management from habs perspective. with tavares considering resigning with NYI or Habs, this is a bad trade for NYI

And the Habs would still need a 2C. Does nothing for either club really.

I would agree with you if Tavares was an UFA after this season, but he has one year after that. I think 1.5 years of Tavares is worth Galchenyuk++.

This would be an "all in move" by Montreal. There's risk to it, but that is how you put a team over the top.

We're looking to add at center. Trading our best for the Islanders best doesn't help us in that respect.

I know, I know, we're talking about JT. However, I don't think he'd stay past end of contract, therefore, it's a no.

The Big Move between these two teams that could help both, so something that could happen, is Patches for Nelson and Lee.

I think it helps Montreal but I agree, who wouldn't want a 1/2 punch of Tavares/Galch? I think there is nobody else on the Habs of value to the Islanders. Prospects and picks wouldn't get it done.

Picking a fight
Tavares (even with only 1.5 years left until you have to re-sign him) >>>> Galchenyuk

De Haan >>>>> Plekanec + late 1st

Honestly, and I hate to paint with a broad brush here, but Montreal fans are really bad at making proposals that aren't absurdly lopsided.

IF Tavares wants out, like the rumors say, NYI would be extremely lucky to get a young top center like Galchenyuk in exchange for him.

Galchenyuk is off course not as complete as Tavares but offensively it's about the same talent. And Galchenyuk is only 22 years old. Plenty of time to round up his defensive game.

Homerism is never a good thing.

I mean, it's not like you have to defend your point in front of a judge to stop the trade being done.

To MTL:

Tavares

De Haan

To NYI:

Galchenyuk

Plekanec

2016 First round pick

I know its improbable, but is the value there?

the isles probably counter with

Nelson, Grabovski and 1st
for Galchenyuk and Beaulieu.

I cant see the isles entertaining JT for any less than a massive overpayment. Galchenyuk,Gallager,1st would be a start. Tavares is a franchise player
