Habs send:
-Pacioretty
-Beaulieu
-Desharnais

Flames send:
-Backlund
-Brodie
-Versteeg

Montreal get Brodie to solidify their top 4 (Weber,Brodie,Petry,Markov)

Calgary get Pacioretty, a Top line winger capable of 35 goals

Backlund brings an upgrade as a 3rd C for Montreal and Calgary get Beaulieu, who could eventually replace Brodie on the top 4.

Flames wouldn't do this, value-wise it's good for us but it also creates a big hole on the wing.

1. Easy no from the Flames. No reason for the Habs to do this either.

2. Brodie is way better on the right side than the left.

3. If the Flames continue to suck, Giordano might be available however. Maybe something like Juulsen, Emelin and a 2017 1st.

As good as Giordano is, i highly doubt Bergevin would like to have 2 dman over 31 years old signed long term for over 14 millons combined

And the Flames have absolutely no interest in trading their 26 year old number one defenceman.

Gee did a Habs fan post this :sarcasm:? Brodie is tha last Flames player that would ever be traded. Backlund is very important to the Flames as well. And the package from the Habs is very underwhelming for two underrated players. Brodie is a top defenseman in this league and we've all seen the prices paid for D-men.

Yes, the Flames are struggling, but let's not forget they are in the middle of the rebuild. Why give up 2 key building blocks that fit perfectly into the age of the rebuild and who are more valuable than what is being offered?

pacs has been a top line LW for the past 5 years or so. TJ brodie is struggling this year. If Pacs was a RW, this trade would make more sense. And brodie isnt even a LD. So forget about it.

As a habs fans, and since Calgary is in the middle of a rebuild, what would it costs to get Giordano, if he is at all avaible off course??

Doesn't make sense for either team.
Brodie is a RD, which we don't need with Weber and Petry in the top 2 RD spots.
Pacioretty is a LW, which Calgary doesn't need with Gaudreau in the top spot.

Value is solid but both teams decline.

Value is not solid... at all.

The value going to Montreal >> the value going to Calgary in this proposal

Depends, do we retain or.not.

If we retain say 1.25 million on the deal which would bring Gio down to 5.5 million per year I would say something around Beaulieu and another major piece. I wouldn't necessarily ask for Montreals best prospect but honestly with adding Gio to your Blue line your already late first we would get in the deal becomes pretty much the 27-30 pick. Maybe something like:

Beaulieu, first, nothing major

Gio retained.

Problem is though we could get better elsewhere I believe

Flames don't retain salary in principle so the idea that they'd do so for another 5 years is absurd.

And if the Flames are somehow convinced to retain salary Giordano, it'll be Sergachev coming back, not cap dumps and marginal players.

Thanks for bringing this thread into the Twilight Zone.
