I've been meaning to ask this for a couple years since I noticed it. Wasn't sure if it's just happening on streaming services (I live out of state so watch on ESPN+, used to watch on NHL.tv) or if local broadcasts have the same issue...

Has anyone else noticed when MSG cuts to a different camera, the audio is out of sync and skips? It's most obvious when the Rangers are at home and score a goal, and the crowd is singing the goal song. For example, notice around the 22 second mark of this clip from Kreider's goal tonight:

This happens every game, without fail, and has for a couple years. It's absolutely grating and ruins some of the best in-game moments (e.g., the goal song). Just want to make sure I'm not completely crazy.

Hmm that's pretty bad on the video, I don't notice that on DirecTV, but I know there has been many, many games this season that the audio and video are not in sync during the game and you hear things a second before (or after) it happens, very frustrating...especially when Sam screams goal before the puck even hits the back of the net.

I feel like that skipping is what prevents the audio from de-syncing from the video. When I don't hear that skipping, the audio is usually out of sync with the video. As others have stated, the skipping has happened for years. You can hear it skip when it changes camera, and you can hear the Let's Go Rangers chant skip/repeat.

Definitely noticeable for me as well. I assumed it was an ESPN+ streaming issue but maybe not.

It’s dumb whatever it is. Almost as dumb as this website refreshing right before I hit “Post Reply”.

Yes. I noticed it during Kreider's goal celebration last night. I also occasionally notice it when they cut cameras--its like several frames are dropped as the video catches up. I assumed it was ESPN+.

MSG has been getting worse and worse.

Bring back the previous graphics package, Hockey Night Live, fix the audio, and upgrade to 4k, and now we’re talking.

Also, add a shots on goal counter for f***s sake.

Interesting that you have that on DirecTV. There were many complaints about this in the ESPN+ discussion thread (or whatever it was called) earlier in the year. I had the same thing, where the audio was maybe a half-second or so ahead of the video. Doesn't sound like much, but it's really disorienting when you're hearing the puck contacting the stick on passes, or the clap of a slap shot, and it's happening before you actually see it. Fortunately Sam is slow AF at this point so there was not usually much issue with that. Anyway, I haven't noticed it for a while so I thought ESPN fixed it, but maybe it wasn't an ESPN issue to begin with (or, not solely an ESPN issue?).

The audio is usually good for me. There have been a handful of games over the last few years where the audio was horribly out of sync, but not many. Last night's video feed was making my physically sick with how badly it was stuttering. Made it tough to watch most of the game.
