Some math to consider for tomorrow:

- Leafs have 14 forwards on the roster right now, none of which are waiver-exempt: $53.975m.
- Leafs have 7 healthy D on the roster right now, with Sandin/Liljegren waiver-exempt: $18.482m
- Let's assume that Mrazek is destined for the Marlies, and the goalies are Campbell-Kallgren (or Sateri)... $2.4m

- Dead space: Kessel $1.2m and Mrazek $2.675m = $3.875m

Total: $78.732m; or $2.768m in space.

Obviously, that's about $2.8m short of bringing Muzzin back, and even if you assume a guy like Liljegren down when Muzzin comes off LTIR (no need to actually carry 8 D), you're still needing close to $2m in cap space to reactivate him.

To me, putting themselves in that position is foolish. Either use all of the Muzzin LTIR, or none at all.

It obviously has not. Simply trying to give a perspective as to what the Leafs theoretical cap situation looks like if they do nothing tomorrow -- as that knowledge may help indicate what they are going to do, if anything.
