well holy crap...its likely the tacos.I have a weird feeling in my belly that the Leafs are gonna bring in a goalie. Either that or those leftover venison tacos I ate are kicking in.

I just can't see that happening (Mrazek being claimed, and the team running with what's left). So if Mrazek somehow gets claimed and there is no goalie coming, we are going with:
Campbell
Kallgren/Woll/Sateri/Hutch
Interesting.
MAF inboundThere’s gotta be a goalie coming tonight or tomorrow.
It will be one of those weird deals where Chicago could have claimed him for nothing and he ends up involved in the MAF trade.
So if he clears. And we keep him up. We don’t get cap savings Rught?
Only if he goes to the Marlies?
This is what you need from a GM. Acknowledge your mistakes. Mrazek was a mistake.
Glad there won't be any more fake self-esteem building public comments about how we believe in certain players.
I hope we see this with a few more pieces of dead weight.
Some of us saw it coming to an extent. This isn't an easy team to play behind.I'd agree Mrazek is a mistake but it is unimaginable he would have been this bad
They could have something lined up for (if and) when he clears. Part of me believes that's what will materialize. So I haven't read this entire thread (lots of other hockey stuff going on today apparently).
But if I have this right...
He was put on waivers sometime before 2pm. Waivers are 24 hours right? So we won't know the cap implications until 24 hours pass or he gets claimed, sometime just before the trade deadline time (an hour or 2 depending on the timing)
Also, if a player is on waivers, can he still be traded? So if the Leafs could still include him in a deal... but he is on waivers and they traded him to say, Chicago for example, he could still be claimed from another team during that period right? A bit confused on how that works. I suspect he could be traded, but only after the waiver claim ends (if he's not claimed).
Have I got that right? I think the timing of when he was put on waivers is important but maybe reading too much into it...
Honestly, this makes me wonder why Dubas didn't go through the whole self-esteem building route for a guy the team had committed quite a few years toward? Locker room related, perhaps? Also makes me wonder how much hotter Briere's seat is.This is what you need from a GM. Acknowledge your mistakes. Mrazek was a mistake.

A cost-controlled crap-tacular goalie to ensure tanks go well? Goalies are voodoo and if, say Arizona, hits on some of the bets they're making and if Mrazek hits his stride, then insta-rebuild complete.Thank f***ing god Dubas. No team can be stupid enough to claim him can they ?
Some math to consider for tomorrow:
- Leafs have 14 forwards on the roster right now, none of which are waiver-exempt: $53.975m.
- Leafs have 7 healthy D on the roster right now, with Sandin/Liljegren waiver-exempt: $18.482m
- Let's assume that Mrazek is destined for the Marlies, and the goalies are Campbell-Kallgren (or Sateri)... $2.4m
- Dead space: Kessel $1.2m and Mrazek $2.675m = $3.875m
Total: $78.732m; or $2.768m in space.
Obviously, that's about $2.8m short of bringing Muzzin back, and even if you assume a guy like Liljegren down when Muzzin comes off LTIR (no need to actually carry 8 D), you're still needing close to $2m in cap space to reactivate him.
To me, putting themselves in that position is foolish. Either use all of the Muzzin LTIR, or none at all.
