The Leafs biggest free agent signing (Mrazek, waived), the second biggest free agent signing (Ritchie, traded) and the third biggest free agent signing (Kase, hurt) really took a nose dive in the past month.

In some parts of the world a.k.a "throw shit at the wall and hope it sticks"

:laugh:

Oh yes, let’s comment oh his courage.
Please fire Dubas now!!!!

Florida added: top 4 D (Chiarot), Top6 F (Giroux)
Tampa added: Hagel; and of course tampa is tampa i.e. their superstars show up to play in post season: Kucherov, Point, Hedman and ofcourse Vasy. (Stamkos to a certain extent too).
Boston added top4D at cheap AAV (Lindholm);

Basically Atlantic competition just got better (or were already better i.e. Tampa).

Leafs: Ritchie traded for Lyubushkin (hoping Lyubushkin will provide value); Mrazek waived (hoping Kallgren might be the guy)

Lots of "hoping";

And TDL tomorrow. To be seen. if Leafs can match, improve compared to their Atlantic competition

So you're saying he's not starting the next game then? ;)

I'm kind of, sort of surprised by this news. I wonder if any sort of last minute arrangement exists to move him if/when he clears?

No logical way to predict such a down year for Mraz.
Smart signing at the time. Went to hell.
The way she goes.
I don’t think it was the pressure in TO; he never actually seemed rattled. Just a bad year.
Shame, I’ll miss his high fashion gear.

This year is actually pretty on par with multiple Mrazek years. He has always been scrambly and without a D corp that can clear the front of the net, gets himself in trouble.

Most people who had watched Mrazek's career knew this wasn't a good fit and were praying it would somehow work.

Carolina didn't let him go and go looking for an upgrade because they were satisfied with his play.

Ridiculous signing from day one. I think there's a good chance he gets claimed though, I was expecting Mrazek to be traded in the off season.

The goalie that's coming via trade in about few hours. Hang tight
He wouldn't be waived if there was no-one coming this way

We signed a vet from Findland, Harri Säteri, but he has to pass through waivers too . I found the answer

In Mrázek’s case, the Leafs would clear the maximum — $1.025 million (U.S.) — of Mrázek’s $3.8-million cap hit. In Clifford’s case, the number, the cap savings would be $1 million, his salary this season.

just got off retaining on Kessel trade (executed by Dubas) and now this. explain this one Dubsters. what a clown.

i think it was a hypothetical post ... first of all u can buyout someone during the season, and there is no indication that they will.

its either buying him out or attaching a good asset and neither are good

Arizona has no goalies signed for next season. And speculation is they will have trouble.in free agency due to their arena situation.

They may legitimately have difficulty reaching the cap floor. Mzarek could potentially be a legit option for them

I think it is more likely he gets cleared and we move him for some kind of short-term money coming back, but maybe a team wants him bad enough.

Rare you get guys (usually) as good as Mrazek on waivers, even if the cap hit is high.

Personally, I have no issues with a good move not working out, even if it means we have this contract on our books. Like Ritchie, it is not like it is hard to move these guys with shorter term deals even if they have some money, and a guy having the worst half-season of his career is usually not going to deter people's original interest in him.
