he didn't look good last night. but he needs some games. guy has to play, especially for the contract he was given.

Just checked the stats. #50+ with 3.20 GAA and .896 SV%. Puts him in terrible company with Wedgewood, Griess, Montembeau, and Dell. FFS Koskinen has slightly better numbers playing behind a terrible D. Truth is 35 needs to play much better if we hope to move him this summer without having to add.

Meanwhile Freddy is looking good in the goalie penthouse.

Mrazek's a weird goalie, I never understood the contract given. Whether he's capable or not he still needs to play, if we want the best version of Campbell we'll need Mrazek to play some games here down the stretch.

Don't know if it's confidence or what but he looks bad, way too busy back there, make me nervous. With all that said, I'm not worried about whether we can move him or not this summer, goalie market is thin and some team will bite.

Considering the rough injuries/illness he's taken and a bit of a harder time than Campbell has faced, Mrazek deserves some rope here.

Just try and get him into a groove over the next couple of months to see what we have in him.

im against trading mras this season ,,,,,,, besides cap that we might not even use at the deadline there are no pros.
you wont pick up a better goalie anywhere as a replacement ...... . period full stop.

which is why Dubas should have doubled down in Campbell a long time ago

Dubas didn’t think Campbell was going to play well and handle the minutes.

Mrazek is insurance in case Campbell recreates his .892 performance in games 5 through 7 against the Habs. Campbell will get his shot at it again, but this time Keefe will have a plan B (Mrazek) instead of a plan C (Hutch) if it hits the fan.

So, he thinks Campbell is the backup. Mrazek'scontract is 3.8M AAV w/M-NTC for three years. It is either an expensive backup or an inadequate #1. That makes no sense at all.

He’s been fine. I don’t put a lot of weight into stats after 6 games, especially since he’s had to play behind some atrocious defensive performances.

Marek is reporting they’ve got calls on him in spite of his injury and stats. Teams are always desperate for goalies. I think it’s going to be easier to trade him in the summer than people think.

Still lots of season left!

Haven't even played half the season (1 game short of the halfway point).

Let's see what a full season of Campbell looks like.

As they were saying there is a market for Mrazek, so his money could be available, at at this point would you fee comfortable giving the older goalie with only 116 games under his 30 year old belt more than 3.8 on a long term deal?

I don't know if I could make that call today, maybe a month ago everyone would have.

Mrazek does seem like he did really well on the contract, so perhaps it was a quiet bidding war, and those other teams are still interested?

His contract isn't friendly though as he's paid more going forward.

I don't see both being here next year.

Dubas didn’t want another Garrett Sparks as a backup and learned from his mistakes more like.
The logic is so weird. Should looking for a good backup and developing goalie in the house (a.k.a. AHL)

That is close to 4M AVV for 3 years with MNTC

I think they're trying to develop goalies, and apparently in the hunt for an overage OHL goalie but other teams are after the same one.

Buyout of Mzazek isn't great, but looks manageable.

Drafting and developing a homegrown goalie takes a long time if you’re not hitting a home run on some utter blue chip guy. We all know Campbell’s story but to use an example of goalies being brought up in the same organization, Ville Husso was drafted in 2014 and is breaking out in 2022. Seems to be stealing the job away from Binnington who was drafted in 2011 and broke out as an NHLer in 2019.

He’s proven himself to be a .915 goalie over 300 nhl games. That’s very useful. He’ll rebound to the mean at some point.

I think you keep hold of him and deal with it in the offseason. Campbell is about to eclipse his career high in GP so I think getting rid of the insurance behind him (Mrzaek has to play better, but I'm giving him some time) wouldn't make much sense at the moment IMO.
