You can't trade a player with a NMC, his family is in Toronto, he's not uprooting to move to another team. No other team wants to take a cap hit that big for someone that can't produce in the playoffs, it's never going to happen. Ever.
Idk maybe he'd agree to go somewhere. Either way you guys have a great core and with playoff experience thier gonna get way better . That Tavares contract is horrible though.. Dude makes crosby money ... yikes

There’s guys like Bergeron, Pavelski, Marchand, who produce at high levels well into their 30’s

But of course the leafs get a guy who looks done and can’t produce in the playoffs at 31. Can’t make this up

Bergeron is 36.

I knew we were in trouble BEFORE the opening face off. Their right winger was 2 feet into our zone and our left winger (Mikayev??) just moved back and let him take his lunch money no push back to speak of. Cowardly, and I actually am getting a kick out of watching Tavares get punched in the head and staring back dazed and confused no self preservation no self respect just a dumb stare, Cowards. Muzzin could show some back bone too although he has made a few solid hits.

Ross Colton really shouldn’t be an impact like that to start a game. You try to start nonsense you get plastered into the boards

Guess how many PK minutes Brayden Point takes away from his 5v5 when he wins cups for Tampa? If you guessed close to 0 you are genius.

Another year of wasting a player in Marner who has the potential to put up same amount of points as McDavid in a season
I'm guessing a lot less tonight since we took far more penalties.

i enjoyed watching nylander catch kucherov square in the face during the scrum before his goal at least

Going into Tampa we said hey, if we get a split we are doing good.

We won the first game and while it doesn’t feel like it today, we are where we need to be!

It’s a series. Against the defending 2x Stanley Cup champs.

Oof that was a tough one. The Leafs looked severely outclassed the first 10-15 minutes of the game. It looked like a carryover from the second half of game three. I was hoping it was just score effects in game three, but man Tampa really showed up tonight as well.

I don't think Holl is that bad of a defenceman, but I don't understand him being in instead of Liljegren. Liljegren can move the puck out waaaaay more efficiently than Holl can. Yea, he might not be as good at stopping a cycle as Holl (not that he is bad), but Holl cannot move the puck even when he stops a cycle so who cares. I am pretty sure the first shift he gave the puck away twice off routine breakout passes, which ultimately led to the goal.

We still have home ice, so not all is lost, but it is really tough to be optimistic watching the last 4-5 periods in this series. Tampa has really overwhelmed the Leafs and shown why they are the defending back to back champs.

As much as I hate to say game 5 is a 'must-win' I really don't think the Leafs can go back to Tampa down 3-2. They better show up Tuesday.

"Powerplay is our enforcer"

As soon as i heard those words couple of years ago, I knew Dubas and Keefe weren't gonna cut it

What you talking about? On NHL21 I hardly fight and win cups all the time.

EA Sports. Its in the game.

if you don't believe me I will say something "stats"

C2+D2 = E2

(excel row operation for the win!)

A split in TB wasn't "good" it was necessary and an expectation if we want to win this series. You couldn't come back down 3-1

the playoffs are about accountablility, and as of yet i havent seen much personal accountability on this team from anyone(inc. the coach) since this terrible runs of 1st round exits.
at least this year i refuse to subject myself to games such as these, i shut that shit down at 3 - 0.
they need to earn the fans trust again here, but it feels like more of the same when the chips are down. maybe they just arent capable? i dunno anymore.

i dont care if we lose if we give it our all, but losing like that is bush league man.

I was away from home all afternoon and paused the live tv so that I could catch up on the game.

Got home and the auto-play had it at the 3-0 point for Tampa going into intermission.

Not good, but ok.

Then things just unraveled. Horrible goal by Campbell, then a series of plays the officials should get demoted for - Perry with a pathetic dive - penalty.
Puck over glass - 5 on 3.

Perry holds stick of Kase who as he's wrestling it away from the hold, hits a Tampa player - 4 min pp

By this time it's 5-0 and the game is essentially over.
Nylander scores 2 goals and then just gifts one back with an empty net.

Pointe and Rielly fight for icing, 2 handed slash on the gloves followed by cross-check to the head.
No calls.
Scrum ensues where both players throw punches at each other.
No calls.

What in the f*** is going on with this officiating?

Good Lord.

Just look at big bad Tavares here:

The missing ingredient is "killer instinct". Without it they will never throw the KO uppercut when they have their opponents on the ropes in a series.

It's why I am puzzled why Keefe tries to outsmart the opponent by sitting players who will bring an edge to their game. The edge that Clifford and Simmonds bring, when disciplined of course: rubs off on others The same way a Muzzin or Lybushkin can. It is in short supply so why nullify it?

Considering they gave up 8 PP (can that ever be legitimate?) without them in the lineup, why have them sitting? It clearly makes no difference to the league who the Leafs employ each game the refs will find a soft penalty and dishourable TB players will oblige with embellishment.

Name another playoff game in which a team had 8 PPs. Tampa had 7 PPs the other game. Are the Leafs somehow a dirty or menacing team?
Boston, earlier today had 9 PPs.

Pens fan here ... Dude relax you guys are gonna win cups really soon. That team is stacked with young guys. Trade Tavares for some younger talent. Maybe for bottom 6 guys to help kill opposing team momentum and your set for 7 or 8 yrs. That core reminds me of the pens in 2007 08
Except that we can't, because he has an NMC, which means we can't even send him to the minors (not that I would suggest that).

I wonder if it covers Robidas Island?

It is a best of three series now, which is pretty much what we all predicted.

JT is a problem, Holl is a problem….. Keefe kept playing Holl and benching Lilly…..
But we scored 3 or more goals on Vas in all 4 games, that’s something that I would have never imagined.
The boys need to take care of business in Game 5, set the tone and destroy TB and build on that for Game 6.
