Another thing is Marner and especially Nylander are the two softest players i've ever ever ever seen in the NHL.

It's not that their small and probably couldn't take many people in a fight it's that they're too scared to even tie up and engage physically. They're f***ing terrified of being embarrassed in a fight and just want to avoid confrontation at all costs.

Most 12 year olds playing house league have more balls when it comes to standing up for themselves.
Just watch that video replay of Nylander avoiding going after the puck deep in Tampa Bay's zone because he was scared to take any sort of physical contact to make a big play. Even the Tampa play by play commentator said he should be benched for that effort.

It's embarrassing to watch a player with that much skill be that completely lazy and soft in games that are most important. Entire team played scared all night long.

I mean, I guess it's possible for the Leafs to show up in game five. Look at how much of a no show Tampa Bay was in game one. They equally matched the Leafs awfulness in game 4, easily.

Still doesn't make me feel good about it.
I'm expecting both teams to show up. The crowd will be nasty if the Leafs lay another egg.

If I was told the Leafs would be 2-2, out-scoring Tampa and have home ice advantage before the series started, I'd be happy with that. A bonus is that Nylander scored twice.

Keefe needs his balls to drop so he can also callout the refs. I think the next game is must win for the Leafs. No chance you force a need to win in Tampa or two back-to-back games in general.

The culture of this team is just wrong for playoff hockey, they need a Tkachuk/ Bertuzzi/ Wilson type that can play in the top 9 and drag the guys into a fight. Bunting tries but he's just not very tough himself and has 0 backup.
Perfectly said.

Theyre fine individual players on their own, and you can probably win and make use of 1 them in your lineup. But with Tavares and Matthews, that's an incredibly soft 4 that won't win anything in the playoffs together. Way too much money tied up in guys that don't play playoff hockey

Not sure how anyone can defend Keefe at this point. He's brutal.

Holl in the lineup? Matthews/Marner, Tavares/Nylander stapled together. One line completely shut down and the other has zero chemistry as seen over the 82 game season. Joke.

Lilly draws back in. Maybe alternate Clifford/Simmonds into the 4th line. 3rd line stays together and roll this as your top 6:

Kerfoot - Matthews- Nylander
Bunting - Tavares - Marner

Jack starts with a chance to redeem himself.

Sure, but the way we came out that game was unreal, I’ll never forget it, especially after Game 5.

Let’s hope we see 34 strap it on for Game 5, right out of the gate. Or five minutes in, because Keefe ;)
They said they will show up when it counts. We'll it counts in games 5 and 7.

can someone tell keefe to tell his players to shoot more, especially on odd man rushes? what does he do besides put holl in the lineup?

And here is why that play by Nylander just eats me alive, that erodes our credibility with TB, they mock us and see how soft we are, it’s just a visual that ruins the brand, it impacts. There are guys on TB that aren’t even capable of doing that, in preseason never mind a playoff game. Bill better come out on fire, he owes his team that.

Good thing we will get rid of Keefe, Holl, Nylander and tavares….oh wait, this sloth is unmovable) This team need a major rehaul anyway, no heart and no guts.

Tuesday for me is nylanders biggest game of his career

It would be Tavares too but he unfortunately won’t face any consequences

If Nylander comes out like he has this series, I can’t see him apart of this future

If he comes out guns blazing and puts up a few points he can get back on track to having a good postseason

It’s up to how much he wants to be here and wants to win

I hope Keefe gets fired for using Holl. Guy is a ****ing loser.

But then again, this whole team is an assembly of losers, so I guess he fits

I’ll guarantee you the former players in the media will be all over him.

I thought Mikheyev was throwing his weight around pretty well, so I looked it up. Despite being one of the lighter Leafs (192 lbs) he leads all our forwards in hits with 15 (Matthews is second with 10).

I believe these teams have alternated wins this season, with neither winning two in a row.

In Keefs's post game presser, Steve Simmons directly asks, "why did you start your worst defenceman in a game like this with the crowd the way it would be". Keefs of course asks "who is our worst defencemen", Simmons says "Justin Holl", Keefe responds with "Well, that's your opinion". That led to the "starting 5 question" where Keefe responded with "they were our best line last game".

Really like Keefe as a coach, but the fact he cannot see how bad Holl is, is beyond me. Is that his pet project? If it is, it's an F.

Also, on the 'best line last game'... they might have been, but that does not lead to overall team success. Start your best players, period.

The outlook on Tavares and the remaining years on his deal is not positive. Pretty concerning actually.

An ugly loss just means they'll probably be motivated to show up on time in game five.

If Matthews, Tavares and Marner can't find the back of the net, it won't really matter what their effort is. Can't rely on Kampf and secondary scoring to keep them in the series. Guys have to step up.

Tavares 0 goals in 4 games
Matthews has 2 goals in 4 games, both were in game 1.
Marner has 2 goals in 4 games, fine, but still need more.
Nylander, 2 goals, both late when the game was over in game 4.

It's not good enough.
Agreed but to be fair. Aside from Captain Pajama boy those are all 40 goal paces over a regular season, only Matthews would be disappointed by that. You're right about timing for Matty and Willy though.
