As soon as I saw Holl wasn't scratched, that they were not calling penalties, and neither Simmonds nor Clifford dressed, and then the 2-0 in the first few minutes of the game, I shut it off.

I made progress in my divorce/break up from this team. Not only did I shut it off, I only checked the box score 6 times after I shut it off and tried to salvage my Saturday night.

Hope we bring it next game. Whatever confidence this team instilled in me in game 1, it is now negative. What a complete nightmare.

We all would have been satisfied with a split in Tampa, and that is what we got. Best of 3 now, and we won 2 of the first 3
I would've if the effort had been there. In game 2, the loss was mainly due to taking too many penalties, not because of a lack of effort. The Leafs were great in period one of game 2. I'd be happy with a split if this was a hardly fought game, but no one showed up the first 50 minutes of it, not one single player. No one.

How can you have positive vibes when your team gives literally zero effort? I wish I was being hyperbolic, but they were invisible all game.

I'm happy the series is tied, they won game 3 on the backs of secondary scoring because our top four were invisible at 5 on 5, same as in game 4. There's nothing positive to talk about in game 4. Zero.

Leafs need the Kawhi mentality. "F that let's get them both". No killer instinct.
That was the quotes going in, no?

Damage control after a loss seems like thr obvious response to the questions they'll get now. Expect lots of comments about home ice too.

At this point, I would hope the Leafs have an idea of what works best and have an optimal lineup ready to go.

I'm glad we split in Tampa, but I didn't like how we did it. To not show up in the first 10 minutes is inexcusable. If we lose the series, we'll hear how we lost to the two time defending champs, but that wouldn't be the reason we will have lost. The reason will be gutless efforts by the players you think would have learned from last year's pathetic collapse.

After game 3, I was somewhat confident in this series.

Now I don't think we have one f***ing chance in hell.

Who was the last coach to be fired during a playoff series ?? Lose this series and it should be curtains for coach, GM and Pres.
Fully agreed Tone. This is a results oriented business. Almost or so close isn’t good enough. They haven’t made a deep run with this GM/Coach/pres/core, and you can’t trade all the players.

I mean, I guess it's possible for the Leafs to show up in game five. Look at how much of a no show Tampa Bay was in game one. They equally matched the Leafs awfulness in game 4, easily.

Still doesn't make me feel good about it.

I don't know how the players accept such gutless losses year after year. This wasn't even a game, it was over within the first minute and not a single push to gain momentum. You could almost hear the circus music going on in their heads as they mindlessly skated around running down the clock for 60 minutes.
last year's loss to mtg, especially the game 7 gutless loss should have been enough to have this team not have this type of unacceptable game.

This is going 7 games with all the pressure on the leafs at home. Game will decide the future of many in the organization, it has to be this way.

If not for the Tavares contact, we likely have too add Pietrangelo.
Well we would've had a few options at least. That's the be all and end all issue with paying 3 guys 11mil a year.

If they don't show up, or if only one does, you have to ask a lot of minimum wage summer employees to play way above and beyond every playoff game. It's tough.

End of the day - 3 x 11mil forwards isn't the way to go and wasn't right from the beginning.

If by they they he is including Gio-Holl than he's crazy. Gio was fine last game but Holl was not.

The forwards were for sure... Holl was easily our worst player. Is he just messing with us? Comments like that make me feel Timmy is not getting back in. That would be a (exaggerated) travesty.

You’re right, but a loss is a loss no matter how it happens. All we can do is look forward and hope for the boys to win the next one
