It has to be Ken Dryden.

- Went to an Ivy League school after he was drafted and got a degree
- Won the Conn Smythe before he won the Calder
- Held out over a contract dispute when it was unheard of back then
- Took that time to get a Law degree
- Won 6 Cups overall and 4 in a row
- Wrote one of the best sports books ever written
- Could be prime minister of Canada one day lol

Who can beat that?

Brian Rafalski always interested me. Undrafted FA who started his career at 26 with Scott Stevens and ended it with Lidstrom at 37. Threw away 6 million to retire early only to try and come back last season.

3 Cups and 5 finals in his short 10 season career.

Sean Avery.

No one cares about Jarome Iginla.

(obviously not serious)

Hard to beat Dryden. Especially if he becomes prime minister one day.

We've heard some stories about Bure that could make him interesting too, but it's just stories so... :sarcasm:

Howie Young aka Cowboy, the Original Wild Thing... Clarence Campbell called him "the worst detriment to hockey who ever laced up a pair of skates". Frank Sinatra called him "Howie Baby". This was a guy who's life was like something straight out of a Raymond Chandler meets Quentin Tarantino novel/movie. Absolute piece of work. They just didnt come any more hysterically colorful and this guy could play. Never fulfilled his true potential due to a lifestyle that was beyond over~the~top. Made Derek Sanderson and all the rest before him & those who followed look like Boy Scouts. Absolutely no brakes.

If Ken Dryden is most interesting guy in NHL we have a serious problem. To me Ken is a PC Hack and one of most boring man in hockey.I would say Howie Meeker-a WW 2 Veteran,A conservative Mp,NHL player before serious injuries curtailed career,a coach, broadcaster for nearly 37 yrs and founder of Howie Meeker School in 1960s which became famous all over NA.

Ya I tend to agree with you about Ken Dryden. Great Goalie, but rather boring as a person. Its been said about him; ask him for the time, and he'll build you a watch. Explaining all about springs & sprockets, second hands & pivots. Like, gimme a break Man. Very erudite, philosopher, intellectual, but no, not even close to being "most interesting" at least not to me. To each his own though. Tends to be a bit subjective.... if including those who pursued careers in politics, Id say Red Kelly would be a lot more interesting an individual than Ken Dryden.... I appreciate eccentricities in people, something I find very interesting. As such, guys like Ted Lindsay, Bill Gadsby, Bob Baun, Gump Worsley, Bower & Cheevers etc..... Guy Lafleur would rank right up there as well. Very interesting life & individual. Showing up hours before a game, fully dressed and ready to go while his team mates are still rolling out of bed on game days. Ultimate Rink Rat & Player.

Could be onto something there! Played both D and C very good as well. What do we have more on him?

Just a really interesting guy who Ive actually met a few times. He attended the famed St.Michaels College School in Toronto that was part of the Leafs grooming factory (which produced so many great players over the years) but he wasnt there on a hockey scholarship. He was a walk-on. Try-out while a student. The Leafs werent paying his tuition, room & board. And so despite the obvious facts in front of them, namely his play & huge potential, didnt bother to sign him (idiot Scout thinking he was too small, wouldnt last in the NHL) allowing Detroit to come along & grab him. Multi-Platinum All Star Defenceman. Nice job huh? Way to go Leafs.... Then his feuds with Jack Adams & the Red Wings. Retires rather than accept a trade. Convinced to join the Leafs by Imlach despite not liking to play at Maple Leaf Gardens. Running for a seat in politics and defeating Alan Eagleson in the Mimico Riding of Toronto. The Cup wins in the 60's, invaluable player. Moving on to LA as a Coach. Returning to Toronto in the same capacity. Just a library full of interesting experiences really. Very quiet individual. Reserved. A lot "there" if you catch my drift. Very shrewd individual. He was a sort of "anti~establishment-establishment" type who actually got things done. He called the tunes. You didnt mess with Red Kelly if you were Adams, Norris, a Smythe or anyone else. Very very smart hockey player.... another really interesting guy; Borje Salming.

Great point Killion about Guy Lafleur-reason I didnt mention him was that I did not want to bother you guys about another Pro-Guy Lafleur dialogue. As you know Im a huge Lafleur fan.As for Dryden he is a very smart man but to say that he is most interesting man is wrong
