Most important draft in Army’s tenure

Hello Blues nation, LONG time fan but new to the site. After 27 proud years of serving in the Air Force, back HOME where I belong.

To my topic...IMO this is the most important draft in Army’s tenure. They’re calling Bedard a once in a generation player, this years draft is equivalent to Bedard’s talent with the depth. This draft could be the stepping stone in creating a MONSTER! I will be the first to admit most of you guys forgot more than I know, but I do know that this draft is deeper than most. There’s guys who will go in the second round that in most years would be top ten picks. Some even say it’s the deepest since 2003.

Do you guys remember when the Blues drafted Schwartz and Tarasenko in the same draft in the first round? I’m good buddy’s with John Bosch, if you had kids play youth hockey in St. Louis when they were growing up in the 80’s, 90’s, and 2000’s then you know the name. Johnny is now a retired talent scout, but he said both Tarasenko and Schwartz wouldn’t go in the first round in this years draft. Tarasenko would go in the second, Schwartz late second to third round. That’s how crazy good and deep this draft is this year.

Sorry if I created my first novel, but I’m passionate about this upcoming draft, and what could be. I’m sure most of you are like PREACH TO THE CHOIR, WE ALREADY KNEW THIS.

Welcome. I’m not sure I agree with that. Tarasenko and Schwartz would easily go top 20 in this draft. Tarasenko would go top 8 if not for the Russian factor.

John died a couple years ago man.

I came up playing STL youth hockey in the 90s and 2000s and while I don't personally have memories of him, a lot of people I respect spoke highly of him. Vianney started a memorial tournament for him to honor his legacy.

Citing him as your buddy who is actively giving you insight about an upcoming draft really, really rubs me the wrong way.

You're wildly misinformed about how deep this draft is and whoever gave you that info wasn't John Bosch. You sure as shit aren't good friends with him.

It's not cool name dropping someone you don't know and citing his opinion to give you clout. I trust Brian implicitly that you are full of BS here.

That said, let's talk about how deep this draft is. I have not dug into it as much as I would have liked, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. But I think its ridiculous to say Schwartz would go in the third round. He has almost 500 NHL points and will most likely finish, barring injury with 600+. That would put him in the top 350 of all time. You are saying there are 64 players in this one draft year who are better than a top 350 all time? Patently ridiculous.

I'd say this draft has 4 guys that could be #1s in other years. After that, you are getting about 4-8 spots more positional value vs a normal draft in the first two rounds. So a guy who goes #15 OA this year would be like top 10 in a good draft and maybe as high as 7-8 in a poor draft. It may get deeper on the tail end, but I have not realy had the time to look that deep.
