I don't know how long this rule has been in effect but in the NHL a player can get 2 Game Misconducts in a season before receiving any suspension punishment. However, upon receiving your 3rd Game Misconduct of the season the individual player is given an automatic 1 Game suspension. Every additional Game Misconduct in that season brings an automatic suspension for another game. Therefore: 3 Game Misconducts:1 Game suspension, 4 Game Misconducts:2 Game suspension, 5:3, 6:4, etc....
So my question is: What's the single season NHL record by a player for most Game Misconducts in a season? I know for example that Dave Manson of the Chicago Blackhawks had 5 Game Misconducts in 1989-1990. But I'm guessing that someone else had more than 5 especially back in the bench clearing brawl era of the 1970's-early 1980's...
