No, but in 2023 Michkov was not coming over for another 3 years and there was plenty of noise saying he was gonna choose his destination.

Nowadays, with hindsight, the Habs do have Demidov and Caufield is now a top10 goal scorer in the league (i’ll also point out he had a stretch of 48 goals in 82 games prior to last season), so why are people so hung up on Michkov? It was one thing to be mad about when the draft happened, it’s different thing to still be pissy years after the pick. By now, we should all be aware that offensive talent alone is not what wins cups. I’ve watched a lot of Michkov hockey and I’m far from convinced he’s the building block for a Stanley Cup winner.
We’re “hung up” on Michkov for a very obvious reason: David Reinbacher. It’s not that complicated. Had they drafted Leonard instead you wouldn’t be reading all this angst about passing on MM. Still wouldn’t have been optimal but so far DR hasn’t shown a damn thing - we know he’s injured . . . but still.

He showed promise in Laval before injury.

Did I miss something . Since when has Patrik Laine been Captain Kangaroo. Is this new. Maybe my questions should be why is Patrik Laine Captain Kangaroo
He wears flamboyant suits. He’s been voted NHL best dressed before. He’s up there with other all-time style icons like Ray Emery. Outrageous clothes more likely found on a catwalk than real life.

Something drove them away from Michkov.......we will hear about it someday soon enough....whatever it may be..........these things happen all the time. The kid is a good player, but there is always a but, so..........................

Give some time to DR to play and develop as a big Dman for us guys. Trust HuGo.....
I'm gonna ask r/conspiracy if they have any leaks

For real tho I think they just misread Michkov. They were intimidated by his personality and decided to go for the nice funny goofball in Reinbacher

If Laine returns to form and extends with us I think I much prefer our winger group to consist of be Laine, Caufield, Slafkovsky, Demidov then adding Michkov but then taking one of those 4 out.

Did we win a million and I missed it?

Yes, didn't you know,

A big RHD like Reinbacher is as good as a million dollars,

We literally won the lottery when we landed a talent like him.

Yeah,

That draft was so stacked with offensive weapons.

Take your pick,

A Russian Superstar,

A hardnosed American sniper,

etc, etc.

As if adding another smurf offensive winger would change anything for the Habs when they have CC and Demidov already.
Let’s pretend for a moment that they had a crystal ball and knew they’d draft Demidov …

Since when is 6’1’, 192 lbs considered a Smurf?

I'll give you one. Most disappointing so far is the Romanov. Top 4 defensive RD that can play both sides.

The habs are easy to play against.

I'd make the Dach trade all day long again. It was the right move at the time and as has been said ad nauseum by me, you can't predict injuries.

That being said, if I had a Deloreon TODAY and I could reverse the trade, I would. Simply because the injury has messed things up and we're now in some uncertain times. Having Nezar in the system and Romanov on the back end would be nice. Then again, I'd probably still be looking to trade for a number 2 so I'd probably be looking to move those guys again.

Romanov is a LD, not a RD. He prefers to play left and he is used that way by the Isles.

Butterfly effect. Maybe we draft Michkov and we don't get Demidov. I know Michkov is lighting it up right now, but I'm good with Demi.
maybe Michkov decides to finish his whole contract in the KHL, too…...
