We all keep forgetting or purposely dodging, the fact that Bobrov's dad provided intel on the situation. Of course I'll just get told I'm coping, because you know, that's how people that are pissed seem to defend facts. Trust me I ain't coping, because I don't care. Like I said before, too early to tell between the two. Wake me up when they both play in the playoffs where it matters.

We know what Michkov already is. Admitting it seems to be the issue for some people.
Admitting things aren't always black and white also seem to be an issue for some people.

But I guess saying Michkov gud, Renbuster bad, Ugo idiots provides MUCH more insightful information.

I didn't say the Habs didn't meet with Michkov. I said he only met with the flyers outside of the draft.

I didn't say Michkov wasn't ok with going to the Habs.

I didn't say the Habs said the interview went negatively

I said Michkov seemed to have a very specific team he wanted to go to.

Would be nice to have him AND Demidov, but that's c'est la vie.

On to the next draft and see who the Habs pass up on who's better.

Passed up Tkachuk/Q Hughes for KK. Hutson is looking promising as f***, but missing on Tkachuk hurts.
It doesn't really matter what he wants, if you pick him he is yours.
And in hindsight it seems pretty clear that staying in russia wasn't an option.

You’re lying and it’s very strange
Ok, let's see where I'm lying so I can see thart and eat crow for it.

At the time that wasn't known and I would imagine that wasn't really an issue, however if he doesn't want to play here and the Habs draft him, you have yourself a Lindros situation.

While that worked out wonderfully for Colorado, it could be an issue where you're potentially strung along for those 3 years and maybe he signs one more and while he's still playing well over in Russia, his value isn't as high as it was on draft day given that he doesn't want to play for your organization and asking out.

So, now you're trading Michkov for pennies on the dollar in all likelihood.

Or maybe, if he didn't want to play in Montreal he comes around.

Both hypothetical, but the negative possibility is there and it needs to be factored into a pick, assuming the player you're considering has given, or said he has no intention/doesn't want to be drafted by your team.

Maybe he becomes a free agent and the Habs sign him in the future. Who knows.

and honestly the constant negativity gets overwhelming.

That's the thing with negativity it's always overwhelming when you dont agree with it, i remember beeing overwhelm by it during the 2021 playoffs and the perpetrator of that negativity where the same who's claming to be overwhelm by it now.....kind of funny me thinks.

But Michkov did meet with the Habs and Philly were the ones to contact and invite Michkov for a visit. Both of these are verifiable facts. Which lends weight to Michkov being ok with Montreal drafting him. Habs were also positive about their interview with Matvei.
Michkov's agent was the one to contact the Flyers for the visit.

"But then, in June, Michkov’s agent, Maxim Moliver, reached out to the Flyers organization. As it turned out, Michkov was spending some downtime ahead of the draft in New York City, and he wanted to meet with the Flyers before the draft at the end of that month. The Flyers, of course, were receptive. They were the only team that Michkov offered to meet with before arriving in Nashville"

Like, it would just be so much easier to call a spade a spade, no? People have no problem doing it when Slaf is clearly better than Wright. Now it's all wait and see, we don't know what info they had, it is what it is go touch grass blah blah blah.
I think it’s clear Mich is a star already. We missed out on that.

The other side of the equation is to be seen. I don’t think Reinbacker will be that kind of player but I do think he’ll be great for us.

This would bother me a lot more if we didn’t have Demidov.

As for Slaf Wright Cooley etc… I’ve said for a while now we won’t know for years how that worked out. For now I’m happy with Slaf and I think we took the right guy.

With RB, it’s a much different situation. The injury throws RB’s development back a little. So it’s going to take more time to know what we have there. Just our luck.
It's so weird to try and pretend to not be bothered by something. Just be bothered or not.
The other piece to this is that it’s pretty clear that Mich wanted to go to Philly. How much did that factor into the decision? No idea. But I suspect someday we’ll find out on a 30 for 30 episode when they talk about the Montreal dynasty of the 2020s and 2030s. :)

There was a ton of chatter about Michkov dictating who he would play for, and who he wouldn't.....huge red flag there guys.
Give DR 3 years in the NHL and then you can look at both kids, and compare.....time and patience.

Cope. There was a tonne of chatter that was probably generated by the Habs themselves because they knew they were about to make an unpopular choice. That unpopular choice seems to also have been wrong.

I dont agree with that, you pick the guy and do everything in you're power to make him want to play here, that's your job.

Unless you think he is not that good and that's the part that scare's me......not being able to evaluate how good a player could be.

Just so I have this right, Michkov is the only NHL player who can't be discussed in the out of town thread?

It hurt too much:laugh::laugh:

Michkov is putting up better numbers this year than Bedard, Fantilli, Smith and Carlsson who were all drafted ahead of him too. This one could really be the one to haunt us. He may very well turn into a HOF type of player and we will just have to eat it. Happens.

Just hope in a few years Reinbacher is on our first pair, because he has to be now lol.

I'm not sure what the deal is with Mitchkov but this is a thread I'm likely to ignore in very short order.
We have enough angst on this forum discussing players who actually belong to us.

It's become like picking at scabs.

The greater Michkov plays, the more noise there will be around Reinbacher. The kid better be (extra)tough mentally now.

Michkov is a miss. But, even if he ends up in the HHOF, if Reinbacher becomes an elite shutdown defencemen we may feel okay about this pick.

f***...Ill never forget Price bumbling his name as I sat there hoping for Michkov.

There's some good chances in 10 years, 12 years old kids would also be saying "David who?"

There's no excuses Michkov should have been ours. Michkov, Demidov, Mesar... 3 hockey gods on the first line, boom.
