It’s a 240 game sample size actually. He’s shown to be a good player in like 30-40 of them. In his "good" season he had 20 EV points while playing with our two best players.

So you're going to conflate games played as a first year 18 year old and use them to sell your narrative huh? To try and say with a straight face that how he played as a teenager in the NHL is representative of how to analyze him going forward and assess the potential is simply either purposefully disingenious or just plain stupid. That being said there are big concerns about Kirby, he looks like he's not even in great shape, of course even being patient the compete level isn't inspiring anyone. As has been said ad nauseum around here though, he deserves at least a half season to get back up to speed, he suffered a massive injury and that isn't gonna change because it's easy to mash words into your keyboard. Rational people aren't just going to give up on him and call for the GM and coaching staff to be fired though, that's for a very special contingent of internet karens to do. Obviously even on these boards, filled with hardcore fans, that contingent is a small minority. Thank god for that.

I was fine with dach,newhook and barron trades at the time. But not drafting michkov is still a blunder especially when you needed scoring at the time and still do now. Really hope demidov can let us forget about not picking him. Now best trade was getting kulak for a 2nd which turned into hutson

Sam Bennett had 41 points in 69GP. Zibanejad had 72 pts in 81 GP, both playing for strong teams. Who was more valuable? Dont act like Cooley aims for 100pts season and Slaf for 20.

Slaf is being outplayed and outperformed by a player smaller than him with one year less experience as a Pro. Slaf is also being outplayed and outperformed by Michkov, a rookie.

Slaf had his GM intervene and talk to him. I mean, we all watch the games the guy doesn’t play with hustle consistently. From what I’ve seen, he’s not someone I’d feel comfortable relying on in the playoffs. He doesn’t show up. Michkov? 100% gamer. Cooley? Not convinced yet but he’s been more convincing than Slaf.

Not sure what Bennett and Zibanejad have to do with this discussion. Can you explain?

Yeah it's a nightmare scenario as far as optics goes. Michkov comes over early and instantly starts producing at a high level while Rein goes down with basically a season ending injury. Tough to argue anything but the worst has happened so far.

I still think Rein is gonna be a very important piece and when both he and Demi come over it's gonna be much easier to look at the entire situation.

It's the other way around for me. After over 2 years of posters worshipping St-Louis, Hughes and Gorton, and posters ganging up on anyone who dared to question this shitshow of a rebuild, people are finally starting to wake up this season.

Yeah I’m sure if he was a PPG as an 18 year old you wouldn’t point to that and say "look at these stats"

They are relevant because him being inconsistent, disinterested and with a weak shot, were things that followed him since he was a teenager.

Even then, Laine has missed just as much time and came back producing. At some point the player needs to put up or shut up.

Toffoli trade was less than stealers but might still work out could have maid better use of the pick but not sure it is disappointing.

Chariot it seemed like a Homerun but it when when from lottery pick to 31st…

Kulak landed a 2nd(Hutson) homerun

Lehkonen for everyone complaining now there were 2 twice à much people willing to give him away… that was great return it just has not work out…

Vs. was expecting a lot more but was à still a project

Dach that was a significant move and because he had shown flashes where he was the best player player on the team.

Matheson for Petry is slam dunk

Monahan x2 was a great trade and value

Newhook I didn’t like the deal so can’t said I’m disappointed but it a significant move that isn’t really paying off.

Edmundson disappointing return but couldn’t expect much more…

2nd Petry deal was a lot of domino and retaining salary not sure it the 2nd was worth all the trouble might have limited us to do other deal.

Kovacevic was puzzling and disappointing because that return wasn’t good enough and timing.

Laine was a homerun even if he would have set feet on the ice…

Overall I was happy with value in most trade but it hasn’t really paid off, so the most disappointing trade would be

#1) Chiarot when the deal was made for an unprotected 1st in the Bedar draft, and a guy that show NHL potential, people were dancing in the streets. Similac dealing with issues fall off the map, Florida’s stumble in the playoff and go to the final pick was use in no so great trade… We when from thinking we hit a grand slam but turn out to be foul ball…

#2) Dach personally I haven’t given up yet but it was a significant move that isn’t paying off right not and it might have cost us a shot at Bédard, Carlson, Fantilli…

#3) Reinbacher didn’t like the pick would have preferred to trade down

#4) Newhook overpaying / Kovacevic underwhelming return

Heineman is showing that lekhonen tenacity. Lekhonen is the better rounded player but heineman has some unoque power. Love how he puts the shoulder down.

It reminds me just a little bit of Erik Cole. When he came off the wing with speed. You knew exactly where he was going and you knew there was chaos coming.

Mitchkov was the easiest slam dunk ever, and Hughes choked on the moment
Only if Reinbacher is one of the greatest defensemen of his generation or if Mitchkov somehow begin to suck ass for reasons knowns only by God that this pick ain't #1

For sake of discussion, #2 would probably be Dach, but it's not as "franchise altering" as "not picking Mitchkov" IMO
Problem with Dach is that he's made of the most fragile glass found on Planet Earth, plus the fact that this year he's not great at all
