Like the others insist the sky is falling?
Define sky falling?

Dach
Newhook
Guhle
Slafkvosky
Barron

Zero progress.

Reinbacher a bad D+1 and a wasted D+2.

We know this team won’t win with just Caufield and Suzuki. So what will it take for you to accept some fans don’t think Hughes should get the keys to the city?

When we have expectations of winning, and he delivers, I’ll be happy. We’ll all be happy.

Who said I wanted a rebuild?

If you’ve read enough of my comments you wouldn’t be surprised that I don’t think losing leads to winning. When the Habs start winning, I’ll be happy. Maybe.

Hope this helps.

Prospect pool rankings are worthless and pathetic. And I’d hope we had the best draft picks from the draft we had the 1OA, unfortunately our 1OA is in the process of getting lapped by two players picked after him.
Yes, because all that matters is what they are doing this year.

This year the young players took a collective step back. It calls into question the ability of this team to develop young players. I frankly don’t mind or care if you disagree. It’s a discussion board, accept that we’ll have differences of opinion.

I accept it, you just don't accept that everything doesn't work as you want it. You get upset like some kid stole your lollipop just because some are having a down year.

It's not all about points. The same people that touch themselves over Michy boy, wouldn't touch Marner with a 10 foot pole. But hey, Marner had almost 100 points 3 years in a row. Let the excuses come at me.

You're right.

Michkov = Marner, one of the most buttery Charmin soft players in the entire league.

:sarcasm:

I mostly get upset at dumb and specious arguments that insult my intelligence. Like how Michkov conspired to defraud the Habs of his services. It was a BS argument then and it’s a BS argument now, Michkov’s stellar rookie season only makes the degree of delusion more acute.

I believed the Habs were in good hands coming into the season. The avoidance of awful UFAs and the Laine trade made a terrific roster offseason.

Then came the calamitous start to the season and Hughes sat on his hands: I didn’t see a winning culture that was promised, I didn’t see accountability, I didn’t see leadership, I didn’t see the young players progress, I didn’t see any of the things that winning teams do.

I don’t want to see the Buffalo Sabres Nord. This is precisely where we’re headed and no number of good prospects make a difference when there is no pressure to win.

Hughes paying more to acquire his firm’s client Newhook than he got for Lehkonen or Toffoli is really pathetic but you never could see any criticism of this move because of the mass euphoria. Personally, I find it embarrassing.

I never spoke of all the conspiracy theories and whatnot. I don't go for all the word of mouth stuff. They are in good hands as seen in the prospect pool. For Lekhonen; I remember most of the board wanting to trade him and most of the board being ecstatic about receiving Barron and a pick. We don't know who we'll pick yet. As for Toffoli, we got Heinneman+ and I'm more than good with that. If you were expecting a ton of wins this year, no matter if HuGo did a trade, you were kidding yourself. This wasn't a year of winning and most said that.

This one hurts.

Newhook sucks. He isn't what we need now nor is he what we need in the playoffs.

And we traded Lehkonen for, so far.... not much at all.

Thing is, the return doesn’t matter. So what if he got a trade wrong? It happens, you can’t predict the future…

I’m annoyed that as a fanbase we can’t even accept a move or two turned out wrong. They deny it to this day! Newhook’s pts/60 and pts/game are not impressive. He’s not physical. He’s just a zero player. It was a bad move.

I get why people are upset. What's tiring is the same people over and over saying the same thing all the time without giving it a few years to see what we have. Then if everyone is happy with Reinbacher, then these people will just come out with the tired saying of eating crow.

You’re not in the right thread if you’re tired of hearing about it though.

People are going to have our takes, and while your right that we won’t have definitive answers for years we do have preliminary answers or signs of them through the development of the player since draft day.

Almost everything has gone right for Michkov, and very little has gone right for Reinbacher. He looked promising once he hit the AHL last season, but not without his warts and certainly not dominant.

There’s very very little to suggest the Habs made the right decision, looking back at the 2023 draft 18 months later. My personal opinion is if that you add about 36-60months to the equation, it’s going to be even more slanted in Michkov’s favour.

This is a hockey forum, we are the the most dedicated fans in the world, and some of the most knowledgeable on prospects outside of those who do it for a living. It’s natural and normal that we have our takes and discuss them, it’s literally what we this forum exists for.

Humm, I hate to put it to you, but if I laughed at a conspiracy it means that it's laughable? We traded for young players so we won't know for a bit still. You still can't even grasp that! I want my toy and I want it NOW!!!!!!!!

There's very little to say they've done wrong as well. Young players that need time. Reinbacher was amazing in the AHL....

There are some people who wear those beautiful rose colored glasses and do not take them off, no matter what.

Some of us, used to wear them but we took them off long ago.

I agree with your stance but Guhle is not to be included with the names above. He didnt progress much because he's already a beast.

As for the people you're arguing against, I've come to realize a lot of posters here have a hard time distinguishing negative criticism from complaint.

Regardless of how RB does, we missed out on an awesome player.

As we look back on this years from now, it'll be interesting looking at that draft year. Maybe it'll be seen as a f***up. Good chance of that happening but we can't know it now.

What will really matter though is the body of work. 2022 looks like an incredible draft for us. Good chance we got the two best players in that draft. Mesar and Engstrom are doing well in the AHL... That draft could be our best since 1984. The following year we get RB and... Fowler. Fowler is one of the best goaltending prospects in hockey now and was drafted 69th.

If you do f*** up and miss out on a superstar with a high pick, it's really hard to mitigate it. But drafting Hutson 62nd overall is certainly one way of doing it. Getting Patrick Laine (a guy I thought wouldn't be anywhere near as good as he's been) for free is another.

If RB is as advertised, he'll greatly help us. Does that mean we should've taken him over MM? Maybe not. But in the long run what will matter is how we draft/trade/develop overall. I still think we're in a great position going forward. There will be bumps along the way (Injuries to RB and Dach are good examples) but we've got a really strong group of prospects on the way.
I agree. we missed out on BT and so many others
but as fans we need to move on, is all I say.

No glasses here....just facts that I've given up to now. We can say the same about all of you that whine about anything related to the team, constantly. Can't even give it time in a rebuild :laugh::laugh::laugh:

Wait a second,

This is a good point.

Rose colored glass wearers are in here trying to convince the realists that the team is fiiiiiiiiiiiiiine and we need to get over it/move on, when the thread they're doing that in is literally titled "Most disappointing Hughes Acquisition (All Michkov draft talk here)".

Amazing? Ok, now you’re stretching it. Amazing is similar nomenclature someone would say describing they are dominant. That’s how I would describe what Lane Hutson is doing in the NHL this year. He’s amazing.

DR did play very well in those 11 games. It was encouraging and very indicative that he may end up being good top-10/15 selection in the draft.

… and then he blew out his knee.

These development years are pretty important, the fact he’s going to miss this entire season or very close to it may in fact impact the rest of his career or at the very least delay his development curve. It’s an issue. It’s not something anyone could’ve predicted on draft day, nor should it be held against DR in any way shape or form. But it does hurt his stock, and it does further separate him from MM who’s playing in the NHL and playing well or should I say, amazing?

Shouldn't hold it against him hey? That's exactly what everyone keeps repeating, his injury. It's not his fault he got hurt.

OMG you people speak on both sides of your mouth. Nobody's trying to tell you the team is fiiiiiiiiiine. We're saying it's normal growing pains, but I'm sure you don't get that either.

So you're saying the acquisitions made (via draft/trades/etc) are good, and/or we should let everything go that may be considered a bad move..

But you also don't think we're fine?

No, I'll put it in terms you can actually understand (which you should sensibly deduct yourself)...most of the acquisitions made are kids and they need time. Period. Not rocket science. You'll only know in a couple of years if they were bad moves. It's simple really.
