I was kind of surprised that I couldnt find this anywhere. not sure if many missed this or not but damn

What a warrior returns to the game after taking a skate to the face and 75+ stitches. is there anymore proof out there that hockey players are the toughest athletes?
He's gotta be hurting today

i don't mean to be that guy, but 75 stitches is a LOT, even if they have a godly plastic surgeon in the locker room

just not seeing that many stitches on an eyebrow cut unless that cut him clean back behind the ear

props to stephenson for helping out, that's gotta be scary to see in front of you too

Man that’s scary. Could easily have been so much worse. Props to Stephenson for having the awareness of what happened and making sure he was ok.

Yup. Here’s my hierarchy for team sports:

Tier 1
Hockey/Rugby

Tier2
Football/Lacrosse

Tier 3A
Basketball

Tier 3B
Baseball/Cricket

Tier
Soccer

I've always hated those goalmouth dogpiles. I wish the NHL would make a rule making it illegal for defencemen to play goalie in the crease

Clearly a opinion of one who has never played any of the sports

Enlighten us with your wisdom. You sound like a soccer player.
What exactly is physical about baseball or Cricket? That they fight once in a blue moon and stand metres away from each other at all times?

”Soccer” is atleast a contact sport, you get your ankle stomped on with studs, flying tackles, etc happen every game, concussion is extremely common one. Vincent Kompany for example got a broken nose, a cracked eye socket and mild concussion and still played the whole game. Stuart Perce finished the game with a broken foot, Beckenbauer finished the game with a broken collarbone while wearing a swing the rest of the game etc.

Basketball causes the most injuries of all sports.

I can guarantee if you actually had played any of these sports even once in your life you wouldn’t be making lists this awful lmao

Have you seen soccer players? A flick in the ear hurts them just as much as those injuries.

They touched on this on yesterday's Winnipeg sports talk - it actually was a plastic surgeon doing it with a bunch of super small stitches you can barely see

I think the better question here is: have you?
Yes, some of them do dive, some of them embellish but each and everyone of them also gets multiple hard contacts a game, play trough minor injuries etc.

They’re infinitly tougher than any of the people who sit on the coach and try tell with a straight face that they’re not tough. People who say that are the same ones who have backpain from sitting all day and get aspirin and sick day from work for it.

It’s basically the same as me saying hockey players are not tough because there are only 6 teams in the league that haven’t received a embellishment call.

Just laughable.

Owned.

Also kinda cool to see Stephenson show concern once he realized what happened.
While I do agree, what kind of psychopath wouldn't? The severity of what happened was clear to Stephenson, and at that point the health and safety of Barron is far more important than the game of hockey. Props to him.

Not saying embellishment isn't a thing in soccer (as it is in hockey btw) but I would safely say a majority of what people think is faking injury is actually because 1. that stuff hurts more than people realize and 2. these guys are tired af from the ridiculous amount of running involved in soccer.

Obviously, soccer gets a bad rap because of the ridiculously blatant faking/diving that regularly occurs in the game.

I agree that soccer should rank above baseball. Cant comment on cricket as it is the only sport in the list I did not play.

I chuckled at your examples... Perce and Beckenbauer did not play in this Century (in fairness hockey fans still mention Bobby Baun playing on a broken leg back in the 60's).

I am curious about stating basketball causes the most injuries?

As for the list, is it really that awful? Soccer moves up one tier above baseball and cricket.

You’re a soccer guy like I thought, explains everything. Cheers.
