Healthy Im gonna homer and say Gaudreau-Laine. It also kind of depends who the 3rd member of each line is

Laine and Gaudreau have both been hot-and-cold type guys. Went with the Panthers' duo.

I still think Tkachuk will end up on line 2. The Panthers success started with the ability to spread the offense moving Huberdeau to run his own line, and Barkov can do just fine with lesser linemates. If that’s the case I suspect it will hurt their individual production a little. Barkov is also always a risk to miss time, whereas Gaudreau rarely misses games. I’d go with Columbus.

All depends on whether Tkachuk ends up with Barkov or not in my opinion. A lot of Gaudreau’s success last year came from Lindholm and to a lesser extent Tkachuk covering for a lot of his weaknesses which really helped him flourish, as well as them being very legitimate threats on their own to spread out the opposing defense. Don’t think Gaudreau gets that benefit in Columbus anymore with a downgrade on both his linemates.

Tkachuk is definitely a lesser offensive talent than Gaudreau, but if he plays on a line with Barkov full time there’s a legitimate chance Tkachuk gets to play on ‘the best line in hockey’ two years in a row. Could see Tkachuk putting up similar numbers as last season next to Barkov in Florida, but if he’s separated this will definitely be Gaudreau and Laine.

Tkachuk-Barkov-? > Gaudreau-Jenner-Laine >>> Tkachuk-Bennett-Duclair

For maximum chaos in this thread, Huberdeau and Lindholm should’ve been an option as well.

There is no way Tkachuk approaches his point totals from last year, with or without Barkov.

I would also argue that Laine is an upgrade on Tkachuk.

Laine got paid. he doesnt have to work hard for atleast a season and there are always updates in Fortnite (lol just a joke don't blow a gasket)
I got my money on Barkov/Tkachuk putting up more points than the 2 Wingers

Gaudreau - Laine is a match made in heaven IMO. I think Laine breaks 50 goals and Tkachuk falls back to being a 70pt guy.

I can’t see how Tkachuk would be that if he was playing full time with Barkov.

They’d probably be the toughest line to play against in the league.
They just aren’t quaranteed to play together

Honestly Tkachuk just isn't that good of a player or tough to play against. He's a pretty big downgrade from Huberdeau.

No disagreement there

So why they’d have a good chance of being one of the best lines in hockey.

I just feel like if given the chance Tkachuk would bring something to Barkovs line that he’s never had and Barkov makes ahl players look like top6 guys regularly

Tkachuk doesn't really bring that much though. He's like a poor man's Huberdeau. He's not a power forward.

I disagree there.

All the stats love him and Barkov is one of the best 3 zone players so they’d be one of the toughest duos to play against.

& Hubs and Barkov haven’t really played together for couple of years now

The stats don't tell the whole story with Tkachuk. He's a good player but he's really not elite. I suppose you'll just have to see for yourself.

Gaudreau - 100
Barkov - 90
Laine - 85
Tkachuk - 80
I would be VERY surprised if Gaudreau hits 100 ever again, just don't see it. Now him at maybe 90 and Laine at 85 is very possible. I mean you have Tkachuk dropping over 20 points and Gaudreau only a few even though Tkachuk has the better supporting cast in Florida?

Keep in mind he thinks gaudreau is a top 5 pick for hart this year and said he thinks Laine is the best player Gaudreau has ever played with (said it in another thread).🤷

I have Gaudreau dropping 15 points, after Gaudreau carried Tkachuk to 100 points. Tkachuk has never been a point per game player before that. Meanwhile, Gaudreau scored 99 in a lower scoring season with Monahan as his center...

And in between his 99 and 115 point seasons he had 58 in 70 games and 49 in 56 so you never know what you are going to get with him. I don't see him getting 100 points.

Crazy how that happens when you have an injured Sean Monahan as your center and guys like Brett Ritchie, Josh Leivo, and Dominic Simon on your RW.

Laine's a better pure shooter than Tkachuk, but I'm not sure he'll do the other things that Tkachuk did well that helps Gaudreau (ie. board play, net front presence, passing ability).
