I updated the title and OP to better reflect what this thread is about!
Fair to say the Blues are a dynasty if they win this. It would be their 3rd title in 6 years after going back to back in 2020 and 2021. Although I guess their prestige is dampened somewhat by winning the actual Cup the year prior.
Montreal totally belonged in the playoffs, no matter how hard you stamp your feet and deny reality.
The fact that they were the 17th best team in the league would suggest otherwise
They did what they needed to according to how the rules are set up in front of them, as playoffs are division and conference based.
Now if you want to say that it was harder to make the playoffs as a western team, I'd be inclined to agree.
The fact that they actually made the playoffs makes these desperate stories worthless.
In a league where 50% of the teams make the playoffs, they weren't even in the top 50%.
I get what youre saying, they did what they needed to do. But it doesnt make anything ive said untrue.
Oh it 100% is, but most east coasters aren't ready for that conversation

Washington finished 17th in 2024 and made the playoffs.
Florida finished 17th in 2023 and made the playoffs.
Colorado finished 17th in 2019 and made the playoffs. Guess who finished 14th with 96 pts. and missed the playoffs? Montreal.
You're trying to sell an entirely useless point.
