Uh, no. We don't need Leddy (certainly not at the expense of Pacioretty), i'd do CDH for futures.

Why would we trade a young top 4 D who is fulfilling his potential for futures? It's like there's no market for top 4 D these days.

why? so you dont lose him in the expansion draft? we don't have an equivalent forward we can offer for him, best we can do is futures (i.e: prospect/pick).

So we don't lose Leddy in expansion? It's not even a question he's being protected.

EDIT: Sorry, I see you meant deHaan. Eh, not worth trading him for futures. I'd rather protect him and expose two of our forwards.

If we wouldn't trade Hamonic for Hall, we're not trading Leddy for Patches.

I guess I missed the part where Hall was a btter player then Patches...

In the O-zone? Maybe, but everywhere else ont he ice Patch is twice the player Hall is

Bad proposal. Montreal isn't loses their best scorer, Islanders loses their best or 2nd best defenseman. They just create new holes.

Montreal

Pacioretty 4.5M
desharnais 3.5M
beaulieu 1M

Islanders
Ryan Strome 2.5M
Nick Leddy 5.5M

picks to balance

Zero interest in either DD or Beaulieu. Even less interest in moving Leddy

I don't know, it's a tough call. Unless it was a sure thing that someone like Jason Demers was signing with us, it would have been really hard to let go of one of our top pairing defensemen.

Also, it just might mean Hall isn't as highly regarded by GM's as he is by posters on this board. It's not as if he ended up going for a player better than Hamonic.
