I take Beliveau, M. Richard, Lafleur, and Morenz. Morenz was considered the best player in the first half of the 20th century. Aurele Joliat should also be a poll option if you're going to have that many choices.

Rocket, Beliveau and Lafleur are absolutely locks.

I went Roy for other, but considering he only played half his career i could see other arguments. Still, a goalie, and only post 80s player, 2 legendary cup runs, he's a fitting choice

top 3 were easy, 4th one was hard. Decided to go with Roy

Exactly the same for me.

I do not know your age, but I think me growing up when Roy played is what influenced me. I hated him as a Nordiques fan and then I hated him even more because he won with the ex-Nordiques, but he was the face of the Habs for 10 years and he was a cultural icon in Quebec. Him being great is what launched the era of the French-Canadian goalie, Fleury being the last of them.

That impact puts him above guys like Plante and Harvey, I think.

Didn't even look at the other answers before choosing.

Richard, Béliveau, Lafleur, Roy. If there were two more spots I would add Morenz and Plante.

Almost impossible.

I go with Beliveau, Lafleur, The Rocket and Howie Morenz. Unfortunately, I have to leave off some of the greatest defenders of all time not named Orr, and I have to leave off three of the greatest goaltenders who ever played (Plante, Dryden and Roy... four if you include Durnan).

But I stick with my incredible foursome of forwards.

It's unthinkable that Maurice Richard and Jean Beliveau not be on here, so they're automatic. The next two are very hard to choose.

I went with:

  • Guy Lafleur because he was the cornerstone of the most dominant of the Habs dynasties, and defined what might be considered the peak era of the franchise in terms of transcending the rest of the league.
  • Howie Morenz because he was arguably the best player of the first 40-50 years of pro hockey, and defined the franchise until Rocket came along.
