What fantasy land are you living in? They just had a negotiation the summer before. Remember? The Bruins had zero cap space and needed to go short term. Do you really think if they went 3/18 then he would not have taken it? Swayman got punted because of crappy cap management. Insanity. As for not negotiating until they dealt Ullmark are the Bruins really that stupid? OK let us trade our leverage without even having an inkling of what you're asking for. Incompetence at it's finest, I thought you held this management team in high regard? They rushed the deal because they had a hard on for Letourneau and were afraid Linus was going to change his no trade list.
Of course he would have gone 3/18 it would have walked him to free agency. Would have been an asinine deal to make. Saying they had crappy cap management going all in on a year they had a great team is pretty specious too.

They rushed the deal because July 1 Ullmark would have reset his no trade list. And then they would have had no landing spots for him.

I get the frustration with Sweeney but there was no chance in hell he was getting canned before Montgomery. Sweeney has fired two coaches now and both moves changed the teams’ play for the better instantly. It’s easy to forget what Bruce did with the team when Claude got fired. They were crashing and burning and then they instantly went on a run when Cassidy took over. Monty’s amazing first season after replacing Bruce speaks for itself.

For that reason alone, I don’t mind the move. And I think it’s worth doing. But do I think this team full of holes, particularly up front, is going to suddenly turn the corner? Not really. Either way, Montgomery seemed to have no answers and that gets you fired in the NHL.

So you're saying that we're going to fire Sacco and he will go win a cup somewhere else immediately. 😭

Pierre LeBrun just said on TSN that the Bruins aren't looking around for another coach and want to give Sacco a good look.

/kill me

4 coaches in less than 10 years for Sweeney. Would any good coaches even want to come here knowing they most likely have 3 years or less?

I think the response to that question is where's the middle? Last year's roster over-achieved, no question, this year's is under-achieving. On paper they were neither as good as they looked for a lot of last season, nor as bad as they are now. But where exactly between the two should they be, under a competent coach and with at least most of the squad healthy? In no world is this a genuine Cup-contending team. But it shouldn't be a total cellar-dweller either, which in a lot of key metrics they currently are.

Are they good enough that you want to see them have at least a half-decent back end of the season, sneak into the playoffs and have at least a little run, followed by some re-tooling in the offseason? Or would it be better in the long-term if they simply completely crashed and burned now, forcing deeper change from the deadline and beyond, possibly including a change of GM or similar? Essentially, does this group and its management need tinkering or a blowtorch?

Personally I think the team & management are in need of a flamethrower but that's just me. 🔥

Sacco is the placeholder so they don't waste any money on a coach in desperation. Unless he goes on some amazing run and has this unique game plan I doubt he becomes the permanent coach, just too many better options if you have time to talk to people. Hell, PoMo approached the cats and asked to be considered given he saw something in that group that he said he could do something with.

''Joe Sacco has a wealth of experience and knowledge of our roster and can help lead our team in the right direction. He has a strong understanding of our standards and expectations, and I trust he will do all he can to accomplish our organization’s goals this season.”''

Hey Cam, if Sacco accomplishes the organization's goals, doesn't that mean that Sacco was holding out on Montgomery? Unless Montgomery had a closed door policy, Sacco didn't let Jim in on the secret formula.

Couldn't disagree more. Culture is huge and has been a huge part of their success.

This year, their culture is broken. I don't know why that is, but it is.
The "Bruins culture" died when Zdeno Chara walked into the sunset in 2020. Bergeron and Krejci were the last vestiges of that era and could hold together through the respect they commanded, but when both retired this young core took over and they run things in a different way.

And if we don’t add or remove imaginary days what was it?

Now do GMs and where Sweeney ranks. His shelf life is expired too
17 days in the summer. Do you not get the point?

I think everyone knows your stance on Sweeney given you’ve been posting about it for five years straight. I guess have fun posting your anger over and over more often now. It’s Pia’s Super Bowl but it’s your time to shine too apparently.
