It's tough. Conforto feels like one of those guys that if we sign him, he'll be shit for years until Cohen buys him out. Instead, he'll go sign with a good franchise and hit 40 homers for the next five years.
The team is built for the regular season. The Yankee Dynasty had a plethora of good contact hitters with great situational hitting. The team makeup is piss poor IMO.
Most damning thing on cashman and this Yankee group has been the absolute failure to develop good stating pitching. Serverino and German; neither have proved to be reliable front end guys. Before that you’ve got to go back a waysCashman has always been a joke imo. Money bought Giambi, ARod, Stanton and a litany of pitchers . . . imo while many in the league have now caught up to the Yankees purse strings and there is always a small market team emerging here or there.

When was the last time he pitched? No matter my reaction to this, the reality is he would have lost his arm on the mound after signing a 5 year deal if he stayed here. So probably best for all
When was the last time he pitched?
Aaron Loup just signed with Anaheim
The report I read the other day said that he basically didn't hear much at all from the Mets since the end of the season, that there were no attempts from them to negotiate, and that the unsettled front office situation was a cause for concern. It said that he had assumed he'd be back with the Mets but that he knew how big of a year this was for him after the way the past two went, and so he went somewhere where he felt more comfortable with things. Honestly I can't fault him for that.I can't believe Syndy left over $2M. Loyalty much?

Yup agreed. Giving term to relievers is dangerous. I remember everyone being disappointed we didn't get Brad Hand even though he was so heavily linked to us. Then he's mediocre in Washington, traded to Toronto where he's DFA'ed, and then ends up with us anyway. He didn't get term of course but is an example of a guy who was really good turning into a pile of shit. And you figure now he's 50/50 to be an All Star or post a 5.00 ERA next year.he was really good but he’s getting a lot of cash. I’m always wary with relievers. They’re obviously so important, but 90% of them are completely inconsistent

I read an article that what happened was that with the uncertainty he told all teams he wanted to sign by monday so that he could take his physical on tuesday and if there were any issues that would void a contract he would still have time to turn around and accept his QO by the Wednesday deadline. I think this whole thing played out the way it did based on a variety of different factors. Thor wanted some short term money to prove he is healthy to get his big payday next summer, but he also didnt want to risk losing 18+mil by going past the QO period and then maybe getting lost in the FA world prior to the cba expiring, especially bc he didnt get back last year in any meaningful way and also had some setbacks on his return which were reasonable for a guy coming back from tj, but that could also affect any contract he signed this year. The report I read the other day said that he basically didn't hear much at all from the Mets since the end of the season, that there were no attempts from them to negotiate, and that the unsettled front office situation was a cause for concern. Isn’t agent using one team to get a better offer from another team a tale as old as time?
