What’s the deal with Cashman? Was he overrated in the 90s/00s. Or has he just “lost” it?
He was always overrated. He rode the coattails of Stick Michael and Bob Watson to success. Once Jeter and the rest of the 90s core retired, he's been exposed. His drafting and starting pitching acquisitions have been particularly atrocious. The Red Sox have fired two different title winning GMs in the last decade and he's still employed.

I know he started off hot in the late 90s but I don't know why he's gotten such a long leash since then. 2009 was 12 years ago.

It is such a pleasure watch deGrom go every 5 days. He does things nobody else can do. Hits 102 on the gun and can break off a slider at 93. Doesn't even use his curve and he can throw it wherever he wants. Then he goes to the plate and can get you a knock. And he might be one of the fastest guys on the field.

We're witnessing a hall of fame career that we never saw coming. Something that is once in a lifetime. I'm going to enjoy every single start and appearance he makes.

deGrom turns into the Grim Reaper when he pitches.

A devastator. A destroyer. There is no god when that man takes the mound and reigns death upon you.
He had a ton of strikeouts with the slider last night but I'm pretty sure he could throw nothing but fastballs and still pitch shutouts. When you can pitch 100+ deep into starts with movement and pinpoint accuracy it's not fair.

I stopped watching baseball a long time ago and stuff like this makes me happy that I did. The whole Astros scandal, this nonsense, it’s just a shame.

Thrilled about splitting the series with the fathers!

Also lol at Stroman erasing his own blunder with that beautiful RBI double.
Yeah that was really nice, getting the split after dropping two close games. The Pads are really good.

I really hope we can re-sign Stro. I love everything about the guy and he seems to have taken to the Mets.

Good to see the big guys keep taking positive steps. McCann looking like the guy we hoped we were signing instead of a guy we'd be buying out in a year. Lindor having good ABs. Same for Pete and Dom. Etc.

McKinney looks like a sneaky good pickup. I mean he's not a starting-caliber OFer but he seems to have a good approach, and is a good "hold the fort" guy which is exactly what we needed.

Just keep plugging away until we hopefully get healthy.

The nice thing about McKinney is that he has a really good arm and plus speed. He fills Conforto's weaknesses so that even when Mike comes back, McKinney would be a nice 4/5 OFer to spell and d replacement.

Fargas also looked very promising before he got hurt and should have a chance to win a bench role next year.

Lindor looks dangerous again. Pete starting to buckle down. Dom finding his power is huge. McCann looks like a great reason to not sign Realmuto. His cannon + .260 avg with power is something we've been searching for since Piazza was the man.

Most importantly, the vibes on this team is unreal. The adversity they have faced has made this team closer and stronger together.

He'll look stellar through three and then get a bad call, lose it, walk two guys, allow three hits, throw a wild pitch and hit a guy leading to five runs.

The last inning of a Peterson start is a version of the Aristocrats.

Too violent for Disney.

They really need to get Peterson out of the rotation and back in AAA. He's killing them. He kills the bullpen and generally gets lit up.

Problem is, who do they go to? Eickhoff? I said on another site they should try to get Tropeano back who was just DFA. The need to try something though, Peterson just isn't getting it done.
