I stopped watching baseball after the mets lost the world series because I was losing interest. turned on a game for the first time in 5 years last night and my god the game is awful now. Its either a strikeout or a homerun and not a whole lot in between.
They need to fix that.
It's pretty bad. I used to delay watching in order to skip between innings commercials. Then I started skipping between batters. Now I skip in between pitches as well (down to a science- 15 seconds usually between pitches with some a bit more or less depending on the pitcher, add an extra 5-7 seconds if foulded off). It makes it enjoyable for me again, though the Yankees are doing their best to sap me of that as well these days.

Eh you could be right, but everyone is different. Bruce Harper got drilled in the face earlier in the year and it hasn't affected him. I mean he didn't have the injuries that Pillar did but it's really a psychological thing more than anything else. Hopefully it doesn't affect him much.

Listen I hope your right and the getting hit in the face doesn't effect Pillar. He's human tho and shit like that can definitly destroy a guy's career..

And by the way, Harper ever since he got hit in the face on April 30th, in 57 AB's he has hit .211 with 1 homer and 3 RBI's...this is not a misprint. He's been awful at the plate. I'm wondering if you were thinking about someone else cause Harpers performance thus far kind of proves my point.

Before he got hit, Harper in 76 AB's was hitting a robust .321 with 6 bombs and 10 Ribs.

As you said and your right, everyone is different...hopefully Pillar can regain his confidence at the plate quickly and be productive again.

Harper hurt his wrist when he got hit in the face and then aggravated it on a slide. He missed several games because of the wrist and just landed on the injured list because of it last week. I think that has more to do with his struggles than anything.

I understand your point that these things can be traumatic and cause a permanent drop off in play. I would just hold off and see how the guy responds before we start worrying about that, is all.

Your right and I shouldn't be so paranoid. Seems as if paranoia has taken over lately in my world. I'm worried the Islanders are going to go on a long stinken Cup run....I'm nervous the Knicks season might end tomorrow night....worried about the aforementioned Pillar and I'm nervous that I actually like what the Jets are doing since the season ended!!

I'm heading to happy hour...lol

I think you're already too happy.

Alonso back and the bats look better already.

Put McNeil and Conforto back in the lineup, with our pitching, and honestly I'd be surprised at this point if we don't win the division.

I know this wasn't my take before the season but shit happens and things change. Braves pitching isn't as good as expected, the rest of the division isn't that good and Mets have withstood tons of injuries and they have best pitching in baseball.

So yeah and I'll say it, Mets have the kind of team to win the division and could absolutely do major damage in the post season when we get there.

Mets probably would have lost anyways as it wasn't meant to be despite a 4 friggen nothing lead and I'm real tired and going to sleep but that ball didn't look fair....sorry it just didn't.

I think the umps and the video review team wanted to go to sleep as well and said F it...call it fair and let's get out of here. Sux cause we could have had a 4.5 lead over Atlanta...whatever!!

I haven't watched every inning but Frazier's defense seems very improved compared to where he was a few years ago. Confident, not caught in between going for it and holding up, and making some sick catches out there. Good for him. The walk off was ok too ;) Yanks really needed a W

Seriously f*** David Peterson. The guy does not have it mentally. He is given a big lead, great, comes out and gives two right back. Okay that's fine, get back to pounding the zone and move on. Instead he loses his shit and now we're going to have to use the bullpen for eight innings and piss away another game.

It's too bad Lucchesi is also horseshit because I'd like to not see Peterson in the rotation again this year. Really need to get Carrasco back or try to get some help from elsewhere. Peterson every fifth day is a nightmare.

Yeah, they have to address the bottom of the rotation. Its way too inconsistent. Those guys aren't starters.

Yeah they need to do it soon, too. I don't think we can honestly count on Carrasco at this point. I'm mean I'm sure he'll be back eventually but who knows when? They can't go another two months like this. Other teams like Atlanta will pick it up sooner or later.

f***ing GREAT win and great bounce-back for the pen. The guys stuck with it, this game could have gotten away, easy. Awesome to see Frankie looking like a star and McCann looking like the guy we hoped we were getting. Also, Kevin Pillar, amazing that he's back and standing in there like nothing ever happened.

Still f*** David Peterson though. Need to acquire someone and send him to AAA.
