OT: MLB Thread XLVI

I think Peterson is showing that he can be a good middle-of-the-rotation guy going forward. If they can reasonably work out the Stroman and Syndergaard situations, I really like the idea of deGrom, Stroman, Syndergaard, Peterson, 5th guy moving forward. That being said, I'm obviously banking a bunch on Syndergaard getting fully healthy and Stroman being signed to a reasonable deal.

I think they have good enough pieces to make a big swing for a pitcher if they wanted to, but I'd be really uncomfortable making that move at the moment.

I’m not so high on Stroman. Also, DeGrom is 32 and I wonder how much longer he can sustain ace status.

That's the $137.5M question. I don't even want to go down that road in fear of jinxing it, so I won't say anything.

Re: Stroman, I think he's a good 2/3 guy, and I like the attitude he brings to the clubhouse. He is already 29, so there is the age component that they need to be careful of before they commit to a bunch of guys heading into their 30s; same goes for Thor. FWIW, I can also envision a scenario where none of those guys return and they try to build around deGrom, Peterson, and whoever else is in the farm. I just don't know who else they'd look to bring in to fix the rotation.

So another Met tease upcoming...right? Win a game they had no business winning and than get fan base thinking maybe they'll go on a run and than they'll blow a game or two they should win...rinse and repeat.

I see McNeil hit his 4th HR in 4 games...nice. I see Alonso hit the GW homer...luv that. And I see Diaz came thru. Have I ever ever mentioned this team drives me f'n crazy!?...unreal this friggen team.....lol

he’s such an enigma. He’s struck out 38 batters in 18 innings. It’s insane. 15/9 innings in his career.

If he can just gain some confidence he could be the best reliever in baseball. It’s so strange.

Starters haven't really been the issue for this team. The Pen collectively went cold for a stretch longer than it should have but they'll get straightened out.

He has no experience. The starters failing to go deep into games has been an issue. Cole has regressed compared to last year.
