This was a great moment and great game overall. First time I was truly able to take in a Mets playoff series. 2000 was fun, but I was still a kid. What a fun team to be around. Remember getting out of school early as a HS senior and making sure I got home in time to watch this game.

2015 was fun, but I really thought that was their best team to get a title.

Depends how you define "worse". The Yanks currently have a 525 win%. From 2013-2016 they missed the playoffs 3 times with win%s of 525, 519 and 519. The last time they finished with a losing record was in 1992. In any case, I seriously doubt they'll finish with a losing record.

Actually, as currently constructed, I can see them finishing with a losing record this year. In a 162 game schedule next year with the necessary changes and god forbid, some health, I see them challenging for the division again.

Aha...ahahahaha...AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...ha...haha...*crying noises*

Gimenez is a wiz in the field. His reads, fielding ability, and arm are a sight for sore eyes on the Mets. Him and Dom Smith have put on a defensive clinic today.

It's a small sample, but one has to think Rosario is going to be a player they look to move for a starter next season. Love Rosario, but the rotation is a pressing need. Even if Gimenez is okay with the bat next season, his plus defense will make him super valuable.

Hopefully someone else and not BVW is pulling the trigger on the deal tho.

Is it me or there a lot of balls the Phils OFs are misplaying? I should be used to this a Mets fan considering they’ve treated OF as DH for years. But Philly’s OF def has been awful this series.

Six hits for Conforto the last game plus. Up to .353 now.

It's downright pitiful defense. Worse than the Mets defense in the OF has been. When Harper is your best defensive OF, and when healthy their 2nd best, it's not an ideal spot

He just made another insane play down the third base line on a shift.

Familia gives the lead away after bouncing 20 splitters in a row.

Castro is that prototypical RP teams fall in love with. Throws hard, lands that wild slider here and there. Everyone wants to fix this kinda guy. Not sure I’d trade a prospect for him but I see where they’re going with it.

Giving up a real asset to do it is the part that is annoying. If this was for a whatever prospect, that's fine. They gave up someone with actual upside to do this. BVW has now done this with two relievers and it has not worked.

Most of the best bullpens are built internally or with guys you pick up as reclamation projects for next to nothing. Giving up real assets, it better be for a dominant reliever with some track record.

Today was just a perfect microcosm of the Mets this year.

Opportunity to take 3 of 4 from a division rival and get to 2 games under .500

Go down 6 zilch but of course. Come back and take 7-6 lead to get hopes up with just two innings left.

Give up tying run because pen can't hold lead.

Give up winning run because pen can't hold it too a tie game. Rinse and repeat.

This team is friggen bi-polar....arggggg!

The entire Yankees coaching staff needs to be fired. They need to change things up. These guys are not performing, they are embarrassingly bad, and they are raising it to an art form. It’s not “all” Boone’s fault but he needs to go. Enough is enough.

I agree with everything you're saying. The problem is that I doubt major changes are going to made based on a 60 game season, even though they need to be. It gives them a built in excuse.

Yep, you're spitting truth here. They'll point to the unusual situation and how teams like the Nats and Athletics were around .500 after 60 games and went on to success so small sample size, etc. but they will be ignoring the underlying issues that has nothing to do with this shortened, weird season....such as...

This overrated ass bullpen needs to be revamped.

Boone, as usual, is a f***ing clown.

Agreed but it all starts with the starting pitching. Cole/Tanaka/Monty/Happ/Paxton have combined to average 4 innings a start, FOUR!!!!! You can't ask ANY bullpen to constantly cover 5+ innings every game. It's a recipe for disaster. It's a role of the dice every time a new pitcher comes out and their rolling the dice 4+ times every game instead of the usual two or three.

This is Cashman's biggest failure as a GM and it's gone back for the most part to 2001. Time and time again he's ended up targeting the wrong starting pitchers and used the Yanks trade chips on them.

Our starters would go deeper into games if Boone didn't have them on pitch counts of about 65.

The pitching could be better but there are plenty of examples this year of him taking guys out for no reason.
