I didn't know he was hitting so poorly and the base running gaffes on top of that did him in. Who is the Mets fast guy/pinch runner now? I liked his speed.
They really don't have one. I imagine it would be Rosario, Marisnick, Gimenez, or Nunez, depending on who was playing. I don't think Nunez is even on the active roster at the moment.

Crazy but Mets even with a pathetic 18-22 record are still just game and half out of a post season spot. Yeah it likely wouldn't matter even if we made the playoffs as there will be no WS title but I'd still like to make the playoffs and have a shot.

I'm thinking with 20 games left, we need to go 13-7 to insure a spot and 12-8 at absolute worst to get in. I mean that really isn't that daunting but with this team who the F knows which team will show up on any given night.

With football about to start and Jets likely going to suck again, Mets are my last chance for some playoff action till the Rangers start up again. So come on Mets is it asking too much for you guys to throw us loyal Met fans a bone and make the last 20 games matter?

deGrom is throwing absolute filth today
Mets actually giving him a lot of run support. deGrom being absolutely filthy is just commonplace lol. He is amazing. Hope he gets this W today. Mets been looking good, much better than the Yankees. Best baseball team in NY, Toronto 2nd, Yankees 3rd.

The team is a lot of fun to watch, loveable players like Dom Smith, deGrom, Alonso, that's what it's all about. I don't hate anyone on this team besides Diaz.

Best pitcher in baseball. Shame we haven't given him a better cast. The past few seasons he's had, should have been anchor seasons for playoff teams.
1000% agreed. I just hope he can keep this consistency over the duration of his contract as this next core grows together because I'm really fond of Alonso, McNeil, Conforto, Smith, Nimmo, Rosario, and Gimenez. It's just the arms behind him that worry me moving forward.

Such a waste of a ballplayer’s prime. He’s like the Lundqvist of the MLB.

Jesus H Christ at that swings and misses supercut they just showed from today. It's just f***ing stupid how good deGrom is.

If anything else with their rotation panned out this season, they'd be over .500 right now.

Thor with TJ, Stroman opting out, Wacha and Porcello being awful. Matz is a lost cause.

Hopefully this is the beginning of their run. Lugo has stepped up. Petersen has been solid. They need a 4th guy to step up and be decent.

deGrom will pitch every 5th day which helps, but one more guy needs to step up or the bullpen needs to be lights out. That's how they could make it.

Can you not be a dick? Everyone gets along in this thread, please don't ruin that with your weak trolling.

I dunno man, this team drives me to drink more than they are fun to watch.

It's just maddening how Jekyll and Hyde they are.

Just when you think they will start too go on a run like now as they've beaten the Phils twice the past two days in impressive fashion, is when they'll lose a heart breaker.

I dunno, I agree they have some very likable players but I can't get past the fact this team drives me nuts and it's been going on for almost 50 years so I should know better....lol

This is true.

Still, since 1993 when I was a wee seedling, has there been a worse season? Pretty alarming.

Nah probably not. There is plenty to be concerned about with the future. Namely, have they built the team around guys that are just never going to be healthy. Despite the kudos he's received, Cashman has failed at trading for reliable and effective starters. It really is his biggest shortcoming. I'm concerned with Boone as well.

This baseball "season" is a mess on many fronts and I'm not going to look too deeply into the results when 7 inning games are on the reg (little league) and you have a guy at 2nd base to start an inning (pee-wee).

Look at it this way, this may be the Yankees version of the '92-'93 NYR season. It was sandwiched in between two great seasons but had nothing go right that year.

Depends how you define "worse". The Yanks currently have a 525 win%. From 2013-2016 they missed the playoffs 3 times with win%s of 525, 519 and 519. The last time they finished with a losing record was in 1992. In any case, I seriously doubt they'll finish with a losing record.
