If nothing else Boone has to go.
Hire, Showalter, hire Bochy, even hire AJ Hinch just to piss everyone off. Just hire some else... Aaron Boone does not get the most from his players.
None of those guys are going to come to the Yankees just to show up to work with that days lineup and strategy taped to his door on a notecard signed -From BC.
Boone had no managerial experience at any level. He was hired because Cashman could control him. You're fooling yourself to think otherwise. This is funny to joke about and correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think this is how it actually works.
I agree Cash takes a lot of the blame. He puts the roster together. He wanted Boone over other managers, such as Bam Bam who you know was not going to be controlled like a puppet when his mentor is Bruce Bochy. Buck Showalter should be getting a call once Cashman is fired.Going with an opener for game 2 was idiotic and you know Boone didnt do that on his own.Cashman absolutely has his ear in far too many things.Im not absolving Boone of any blame either.Theres enough to go around.
Not going to happen. Ownership has become too comfortable with failure. George would never have allowed it to come to this.time for heads to roll.
Another reason why bringing back Didi made a ton of sense. Keep DJLM at 1B and Voit in a DH platoon with Stanton. And obviously it wouldnt have been much of a platoon since Stanton missed time again. But your defense would have been better keeping Gleyber at 2B and your lineup would have had another lefty in it.The lineup is also too right handed. Makes it too easy on opposing managers. Cash could just bring in right handed power arms to handle our entire lineup. Our best left handed option is Ford who shouldn't even be in the league.
This is just like the 12-17 Rangers. Not going to happen. Ownership has become too comfortable with failure. George would never have allowed it to come to this.
Getting to the point where I'm not even sure of this anymore. The Yankees were a better version of the Mets. Hot/cold hitting and a weak rotation behind the stud. Obviously the bullpen was way better but still.
Sorry for you guys. I don't root for your team but that's a tough way to end it.
What good is the WAR though when he spends 50+ games a year injured?I'm not advocating trading him either,im just not sure giving him a lifetime contract is the way to go.Do we really want to strap this team with another Stanton like contract and situation?I wouldn't touch Judge. He's got a 20 WAR in two and half seasons worth of baseball. That's insane.
We need to add to him and diversify our lineup, not make a panic trade.
It's a tough call but I think he's a guy you have to take a chance on.What good is the WAR though when he spends 50+ games a year injured?I'm not advocating trading him either,im just not sure giving him a lifetime contract is the way to go.Do we really want to strap this team with another Stanton like contract and situation?
Watching Tampa, I kept wondering, "Which guy is the good guy?" I mean I know they have a couple nice players but they also seem to have a bunch of nobodies, both with the bat and on the mound. What am I missing with them? And no I didn't pay attention this year.
They are definitely a team that is "the sum is more than their parts". I can only think that speaks to some really good coaching and some luck.
Still they mostly lean on their pitching (tick above league average offense and top 5 pitching staff.). The top of their rotation is great with Snell, Glasnow, and Morton. Their bullpen has a bunch of hard throwers with CONTROL (so important).
As for the Yankees. No heads a rolling. I fully expect Cashman and Boone to come back. They are going to use COVID, the injuries, and MLB not telling the teams before the trade deadline that the playoffs would have no off days as excuses. That last excuse actually pissed off a lot of GMs.
Chapman is not “cooked”. What planet are you on? He is still hitting 100mph. How is that not good enough? He did a bad job against Brousseau, didnt locate well enough and he saw a lot of pitches. He got used to the release point on all of his pitches. Got a good pitch to hit and made contact. The ball barely made it out.Folks are getting crazy with the Yanks.
They are not blowing up management.
Trade for a starter. Sign a starter.
Chapman is cooked. He's not fooling anyone or has good enough stuff to blow guys away. Someone has to get into his ear to change what hes doing.
Gary Sanchez is what he is. Accept it or deal him.
DJ is not taking a discount from the Yankees in years or money. I say its less than 50/50 he returns.
I think Tanaka comes back.
