Not that it really matters anymore as his Mets tenure will go down as one of the most baffling in team history but Jed Lowrie continues to wear his mech suit on his leg.

I'm guessing he tore his ACL off field in 2019 and needs to keep that fact hidden for compensation/insurance purposes.

Wouldn't something like that be hard to hide? Certainly harder than breaking an ankle after an "incident" with a wild boar.

I'm still blah about the season actually starting. But if and when it does, I'll probably get into it.

OK that said, one has to think with just 60 games, it's going to take minimum of 35 wins and more than likely 40 wins to get into the post season....agreed?

If that's the case, this could seriously mean a team like the Blue Jays or White Sox...both of them with some great young talent and some solid veterans, if one or both of them get off to let's say a 15-5 record, they could pretty much play .500 baseball rest of the way and be right in the thick of the playoff hunt.

As a Met fan, if there was ever a year them to get off too a hot start instead of a hot end of season, this is the year.

We did skip the entire month of June though. As Mets fans, that alone is cause for celebration and bodes well for success in a shortened season!

... Until half of the roster contracts the bubonic plague.

That is a lot of money. And I hope the Wilpons accept it. Cohen's the guy I want. I want absolutely no part of Blitzer and Harris based on what I've seen with their other sports teams and the J-Rod group does nothing for me. I'm actually a fan of A-Rod but him running a team seems destined for disaster. Cohen has unbelievably deep pockets and is a Mets fan. That's enough for me.

I'm sure this will be lots of fun to watch

Three things that never need to be documented again: 1. 86 Mets 2. 94 Rangers 3. Montreal Screwjob (for non-wrestling fans, look it up).

I'm tired of the 94 stuff when they did the 25th Anniversary I didn't even watch the ceremony. Don't get me wrong I'm forever grateful for 94 its just been beaten to death. Same with the 86 Mets. They already have book called The Bad Guys Won, Judd Apatow did the Daryl and Doc 30 For 30 in 2016, and MSG Networks even did a mini doc on the 86 Mets in 2011 where they had no footage .

About three weeks after the MSG doc premiered, I ran into Gary Dell'Abate (aka Baby Booey from the Howard Stern show) at the Nassau Colesium. He was in the MSG doc and we quickly chatted. He said because SNY/Wilpons own the rights to all the Mets stuff, it's hard to get footage unless its paid for. I'm curious how much or how little this will impact the 30 For 30.

I’m actually with you there. There’s been so many stories, books and shows on the 86 team I’m not sure what else there is to say. Maybe focus on the actual games? Even the regular season maybe.

Hopefully it’s something more than

Cocaine
we had to win game 6 and not see Mike Scott
Cocaine
Bill Buckner!

I'll add "Mike Scott was scuffing his balls and was an ex-Met"

The post-86 work that Cashen and more Mcilvane did was just as bad as Smith's post-94. Kevin Mitchell and Sergei Zubov are essentially the same person for each team. The Dykstra/McDowell for Samuel trade was the equivalent of the Norstrom/Laperriere/etc. for Kurri/McSorely /etc.

It's a shame because I love Frank Cashen too for his work with both Baltimore and the Mets. Kevin McReynolds is one of my most hated Mets. I never liked him as a kid. Cheered when they traded him for Saberhagen.

The most interesting aspect of the 86 World Series to me was the Tom Seaver angle ending up on the Red Sox. If they didn't leave him unprotected in 1984 and Chicago South Side claim him, imagine him and Lee Mazilli both winning in 1986.

If the Mets can get 4b....I wonder what the Yankees would get.
Forbes had the Mets at sixth on the team valuation list at $2.4B. The Yankees were first at $5B. So, who knows? Cohen's bid was actually only $2B for the Mets; the other $2B was for SNY.

It’s so f***ing funny to listen to the owners bitch and moan. Billy Madison Sr and Jr are about to get 2B for a team and 2B for their stake in a tv network that is liquid due to the MLB contract. Unless we think UConn men’s b-ball is the ratings haul for SNY.

my understanding of the offers (and right now SNY isn't being sold) is that is the full valuation of what they are worth, not what the wilpon's would get. they own 65% of SNY, they wouldn't be getting $2 bil for the 65% they would be getting 65% of the $2 bil or 1.3 bil...same for whatever % of the team they own.

you’re correct. It’s a quote for the full value of each. They’ll get whatever the pro rated amount for their share is.

There is also the debt that needs to be factored in, which is not a small percentage of the sale price.
