Brian Roberts to Yankees on 1 year/2 mill deal plus incentives.

Cross you fingers and hope he can stay healthy.

Roberts can be the biggest bargain of the offseason if he can stay healthy.

Still need pitching

They are saving for Tanaka IMO, they aren't going to spend 300M+ then leave a gaping hole in the rotation

You can say that about the entire Yankees infield, including the question mark at 3rd base.

Sheesh the Yankees continue to operate with virtually no plan with HUGE question marks throughout the infield, the rotation, and the pen.

They're in a tough spot. Their farm system is not stocked with the kind of talent they used to have. And they have not been able to hype their prospects and use them in trades to fill holes.

Agreed.

What positives have Brian Cashman given to the Yankees since 2005/2006 when he asked for and got control over the Yankees minor league system?

He seems to be another guy thats grown complacent with his job for life.

Kelly Johnson is not the worst thing in the world at 2B, not to mention u really dont need great offense out of that spot. The ond thing the Yankees have and can develop are relievers.. The SP is the biggest question mark and that hopefully becomes filled by Tanaka

The farm system has been pretty bad since Cashman took over. I'm hoping he finally gets fired if the Yanks miss the playoffs this year, he is such a mediocre and overrated GM.

The left side of the infield is just as big of a question mark as the starting pitching.

You dont have anybody playing 3rd right now - and you've got a SS pushing 40 coming off major leg injuries. This isn't the glory days Derek Jeter.

well I agree with Jeter but hes not moving so what are we to do? ya know?..

also, might just be me, but Nunez looked pretty good at 3RD (not SS!), last September defensively I might be willing to give him a shot

The advantage is, we only need a guy who can play 2B and hit 8th, not play 2B and hit 2nd.

Choo, Cruz, Morales, Drew still available.

Market demand is declining. Means their contracts will be more team friendly. The flurry and inflated contracts usually happen right at the beginning of free agency.

Can see Choo going to Texas for 5 years/100 mill.

Cruz to a smaller market team on a 1 year 8 mill base contract + incentives.

Morales on a 2 year 24/26 mill contract, also incentive laden.

Drew 2 years 12-16 mill. Somewhere in that ballpark.

Bullpen is going to be an issue.

Thornton vs Logan is a lateral move, and Thornton's career splits in the Bronx are terrible.

They lost Mo. Thank God that fat slob Joba is gone. But They need a closer. D-Rob doesnt have a put-away pitch like Mo. He's just got excellent command of strike zone when he's in a pressure spot. But his FB is what, 90-92? We saw what happens to Mo's cutter with a drop in velocity.

Kelley, Claiborne and warren all disintegrated in September.

I'm not getting a warm and fuzzy. The staff can be very good now that Fart Face is gone and you have to expect a bounceback year from CC. CC, Nova and Kuroda is a solid 1-3. Pineda and Phelps are shots in the dark.

And Brian Roberts hasnt played a full season since 2009. Hell, why not see if Marte can help the bullpen while theyre at it.

I dont know.

Really don't like the Roberts signing. Oh one hand, he has like ninety thousand career homers at Yankee Stadium, but I doubt he gets out of April in tact. Guy's made out of paper.

Hence the low base salary. Need an insurance option, though (AND I DON'T MEAN NUNEZ).

Hard to believe he hit 56 double 4 years ago.

He's a decent offensive player. I wouldn't call him a "good hitter," no.

Not good enough to carry him as a DH when there's more powerful options, IMO.

If the ChiSox suck again next year, Ramirez will be available again as well. But they love him there. It would take Gardner+ to pry him away.

I mean, who else could the Yankees offer to a rebuilding team? Romine LOL?
