I understand your point, but in a cap world it still matters.
Look at the Barkov/ Matthews thread, I would take Barkov this year, because I could get 2 of him, but next year I would take Matthews.

Marner is clearly more talented. However, he disappears in the playoffs where Tkachuk would probably shine but no way to be sure until he actually makes the playoffs.
