Looking at Marner and the PP:

Since the start of the 2019 season:

PP with Marner (and leaguewide rank out of the 114 forwards with 300+ PP minutes):
Shot/60: 62.4 (28th out of 114, 2nd on the team)
Expected Goals/60: 8.23 (23rd out of 114, 2nd on the team)
Goals/60: 9.23 (26th out of 114, 3rd on the team)

PP without Marner:
Shot/60: 50.79
Expected Goals/60: 6.51
Goals/60: 7.35

Just this season (and leaguewide rank out of the 135 forwards with 50+ PP minutes):

PP with Marner:
Shot/60: 77.88 (1st out of 135, 1st on the team)
Expected Goals/60: 10.13 (5th out of 135, 1st on the team)
Goals/60: 9.94 (31st out of 135, 4th on the team)

PP without Marner:
Shot/60: 56.88
Expected Goals/60: 7.56
Goals/60: 12.77

The Leafs have certainly gotten some nice bounces on the PP in Marner's absence while Marner is still saddled somewhat with the low shooting% of the first few weeks.

Really strong PP overall numbers from Marner this year though.

The Leafs have absorbed the loss of Marner fairly well.

In the 4 games that Marner has missed the Leafs have scored 2 X PP goals in each game, with him being replaced by players Spezza and Kase who have found the net in his absence. Leafs PK continues on at its successful kill pace even without Marner being available at this time.
&
Auston Matthews continues his goal scoring onslaught even without his favourite wingman at his side.
You think 2 ev points in 4 games is good for Matthews?

Marner is generational on the wing… he will figure it out in the playoffs eventually.

Leafs pk has been successful since marners absence??
Since marners absence the pk has gone 9/15…..

PP Goals Against:
1/5 wild | 3/5 jets | 1/2 jackets | 1/3 lighting

That’s 60%, or statistically the worst penalty kill numbers ever. It’s a small sample size but the pk has not performed as well as it was when marner was playing

I fully admit that I don’t pay much attention to fancy stats but I would like some clarification on one of them.
This year heading
Stat……..goals/60: 9.94 (31st out of 135 , 4th on the team.
Is that saying that Marner is 31st out of 135 player for scoring actual goals per 60 minutes of PP time and he is 4th on the team for the same thing.

Ya the PK has suffered without him for sure. Pk is his best strength

I'm somewhere between hate and indifferent. I would love him on another team. His salary is a travesty. His belief that he deserves Matthews money is clear proof he is delusional.

I love Jason Spezza. Talented player. Would play for free if he could. Bleeds Blue & White.

I'm okay with Mitchell Marner. Talented player. Hasn't yet lived up to his ginormous contract. Bleeds Dollars & Cents.

It's a reflection of the team's success with Marner on the ice vs. not on the ice and his effectiveness rank on the team.

wish there was a 'like' option. love is too strong given some of the shit that went down. but i like him, even with the contract and all.

Fair enough. Thx for the explanation.
I looked at it to literally and thought it was implying that he was 4th on the team for goals per 60 minutes of PP time. That had me wondering being as he hasn’t scored a PP goal in roughly 100 Games.

There is no denying the Leafs is better with Marner in the lineup. Considering his replacement was Simmonds on the first line.
Now Kase gets a chance.
Scary thing would be if Leafs actually go 4-0 without Marner while PP is clicking and didn’t let in any PK goals.
It that happens, Marner might rush himself back and start forcing plays instead of coming back 100% and let the game comes to him.

Not a fan of Marner as a person, but he's undoubtedly one of the most talented players we've ever had. Hoping he can re-write his playoff narrative, I wanna see him simply his game in tight situations these playoffs and not make risky plays when they aren't necessary. Him with Matthews and Bunting was really clicking before his injury.

I do not think you will see Marner and others do well in the playoffs until Dubas and Shanahan are replaced with someone who accepts and embraces NHL hockey as it is. Even parts they might not personally like such as body-checking and physicality. Someone who devotes parts of his 82 game regular season to getting his star players comfortable with this part of hockey instead of sending them into the playoffs year after year completely uncomfortable and unprepared for it.

Dough72, have the good manners to understand this is a device world. Your run on sentence of a paragraph identifies you as a person who grew up most of your life, without devices.

Two sentences to a paragraph, or you are foreign to me and many like me..

We care more about our eyesight than another fans opinion who has no access to the dressing room and thus the real story.

Back to subject, I can only infer now, not cite...

So, someone find me a clip of marner and nylander embracing after a goal or even giving a bump to each other...

I don't think I have to say much more...

I posit, that Marner, is the hidden cancer of the team, and the team won't do much till he gets traded for .60 cents on the dollar.

Just my opinion lol. No facts, no inside...

But show me a gif or a clip please.

His hissy fit during practise, is well it speaks volumes..not much ore needs to be said...

I am intimating that the hate towards Marner extends inward, not just fans.. His camp wanted Matthews to go first, cause his camp thought he was better than Matthews...

In my opinion of course,

I don't have love/hate feelings for professional athletes, especially ones I don't know or have met. Marners a great hockey player, one of the best in the league.

Hang on. You don’t think shanny likes body contact or physicality? You need to search his name in YouTube my son. Also, they’ve literally spent the last 2 seasons doing nothing but adding in that department. When’s the last time the leafs had 3 guys capable of fighting anyone in the league in Clifford, Simmonds and Ritchie?
