I know everything gets lost on the Matthews Hype, but Marner just needs 1 more goal to hit 30 which would be big for someone who has been seen as just an elite playmaker. Hope he gets there.
Hope? It’s a lock. He might get to 35.
Boy is on a serious heater right now. Beauty is its not really a surprise

Just like 34, there’s no question this version of Mitch is an evolution from anything we’ve seen prior. Bodes well for the playoffs and last night’s domination against the Cup champs, with a post season feel game, is a great sign.

If he stays healthy and we have some playoff success, this kid will be in bronze one day. He’s that rare.

I say if they break the drought, put all of them in bronze, but have Mitch (and Auston) standing....a little taller and more out front.

I hope what we are seeing from M&M translates into the postseason

Yep. Some people get upset when the playoffs get mentioned but it's true, putting up points during the regular season is one thing but as the saying goes, the playoffs are where we separate the men from the boys. He's been looking so dominant now for long enough though that it's hard to imagine him ending the season crying in the penalty box again, much easier to envision him and Matthews leading us to winning a round or more for a change (assuming Campbell holds up his end).

Mitch has been our best and most disappointing player in the post season depending on which year we’re discussing. In recent memory he’s underperformed but I’m not ready to attack his playoff resume just yet. He’s shown he can get it done and I’m hoping this new driven Marner brings back the Marner we saw in his first post season showing.

Thought this was a very interesting reply from Mitch on what it was like to witness Auston tying Vaive:

There has to be a lot more to this comment on "not cheating for goals". Why bring that up? Somebody he has in mind does cheat for goals. Is it Draisaitl he has in the back of his mind? Or, someone on the Leafs like Nylander?

*cough* McDrai *cough*
Draisaitl 100%, arguably one of the worst defensive forwards in the entire league. I don't buy that for McDavid, dude is still dominant at even strength, not saying he's in Matthews' tier defensively but he's miles better than Draisaitl. His season is right up there with Matthews. He just plays on a really shitty team, if he were to be injured for an entire season I think people would realise how much he lifts that team into 'relevance'.

McDrai are both awful defensively. Both are known to bail on the back check and then look butt hurt and confused as to why they finished the night with 2G 1 A and are somehow -4 or something.

Kid just makes stuff happen. I’m a lot more confident in him this year going into the playoffs than any other past season. Not just because of his points either, he seems on another level all over the ice and playing with fire. Keep it up Mitchy <3

Willie nylander also up to 66 points in 69 games btw

But no we should trade him regardless of playoff outcome

Edit: this is the wrong thread lol
