Him and Matthews have been 1a) and 1b) for best players in the league since Halloween basically. He level of play this season is higher than I ever expected from him at his peak to be honest.

He should have been signed for 9 million but if he plays the was he's been playing lately in the playoffs, nobody will care. He's just killing it, a joy to watch and most pleasing is how he's all of a sudden sniping goals from places he never used to score from. Bring it in the playoffs and he'll be a hero, get shut down in the playoffs and ... I don't even want to think about it. This top line looks unstoppable and they need to not be shut down in the playoffs.

Would you still be annoyingly reminding us all of his playoff failures if he had signed for 9 million?

I think any fair minded observer agrees this is the most complete Marner we’ve ever seen, same goes for Matthews. This bodes well for a playoff breakout and also means the past may be just that, these two have hit new paradigms.

The best duo I’ve ever watched in a Leafs uniform, the way they feed off each other is incredible. Marner is an absolute stud, every inch and scenario on the ice.

Your obsession with me isn't healthy. If you find my posts so annoying, why are you prompting me to post more? Just put me on ignore if you're so upset, simple solution. Pretty telling that you ignore all the good stuff I had to say about him in that post, whatever makes you happy I guess.

This is one thing that is different about Mitch this season. I don't think he would've answered this question about looking for Auston more as he approaches 50 the same way in years past.

Couldn't love this answer much more.

This version of Marner is primo. The extra scoring touch really is the cherry on top.

Except for the 7 brutal giveaways on the powerplay last game

Who thought Marner would be 2nd on the team 4 ahead of Nylander with 9 less games played and 7 ahead of JT with 8 less GP? Incredible run after returning from his injury.

Mitch is likely looking at some steep regression. His current shooting percentage is 16.8%. That's nearly 5% (4.7%) above his career average of 12.1%. I'd like to think his shot is really that much better, but he's well over-performing his career average which should mean some cooling. I hope this is Marner's new normal but, numbers.

For context, Matthews is +1% over his career average. Nylander is -.2% .... Tavares is -2.4% and Bunting is -2.6%

Who thought Willy would be the most consistent?

Ok...? Care to address the Marner giveaways or are we just ignoring that til the playoffs.
Would changing the goal song, when Mitch scores, to this satisfy you? Gotta give it to your Papi.

His power play performance was brutal vs. NJ. We all saw it. We also saw the big goal he scored. Hopefully, he keeps scoring and cleans up the GVA's.

He’s also a big part of the best PP in the entire NHL. I mean….

We all knew his skill and talent was awesome but for me its his defense game. Man is it a beauty to watch him on the PK and how many rush scoring changes we get

Honestly as much criticism as your guys take. Some of it warranted to an extent. It’s sad to think how many fans don’t really appreciate what we are witnessing with Marner and Matthews right now.

We are watching arguably the best two players in this franchise’s 100+ year storied history playing together in their primes. Not only are they in the most elite class of offensive players in the league, but they are both probably top 10 Selke candidates at the same time.

That’s such an incredible rarity

Now we just need the playoff success to match the regular season, but I believe these two can bring us a Stanley Cup

The PK is my favorite time to watch him these days. I mean getting penalized always sucks of course but still, whenever it happens I'm thinking OK time to focus, it's Marner time!

It takes more than two forwards to win a cup (goaltending, defence etc.) but sure, these guys are supremely talented so they should be able to lead the way. I see no reason why they shouldn't be able to continue their dominating ways in the playoffs, we'll see.

They are fun to watch but I still remember what it's like to win a playoff series, and it's that same fun, just multiplied by 100. I've been waiting so long, please let it happen this year.

The kid really does have Dougies "Killer Instinct" when he PKs. As soon as he starts using that in the playoffs (and I believe he will) he is going to truly be one of the greats.

lol, yea, that was eye-rolling.

Yet... Marner stirs the drink on the best line in professional hockey. He now plays with a quiet dignified maturity, like Gretzky did - not too high, not too low - exactly what you want for the playoffs. So, I prefer to see his glass as 99/100 full, not 1/100 empty.

He's so dangerous on the PK, I mean it's blasphemous to compare anyone to 99 so I won't go there but still ...

It does feel like he's right on the verge of greatness. It seems this place is polarized on the subject of Marner, most people are either already singing his praises and they are unhappy when people bring up the lack of playoff production, or they're like me - absolutely thrilled with the way he's playing but not quite ready to put a crown on his head until he produces in the playoffs the way he does in the regular season. He's playing so well right now though, by far the best he's ever been so hard to imagine him withering away in the playoffs, we'll see. I don't want to jinx anything but it's hard not to believe this is the year he brings it in the playoffs and if he does, and if the team breaks through as well, I think most people will agree that Marner is one of the truly elite players in the world.

I want playoff success so bad ...

Sorry I was focused on the awesome goal and him helping to close out a win. Zzzzzz. Nice tagline as well, speaks volumes about you. Later guy.
To be fair, I put this tag line up literally right after game 7 last year so it was an emotional reaction. But now I just haven't gotten around to changing it yet. If I even want to. I guess that'll depend on playoff Marner.

3 points tonight with time on the clock. This honestly seems like a breakout year in a sort of way for the kid, really seems like he's entering the elite of the elite this year.
