ive been here a short time but from what i've picked up it's only one poster who said barzal > marner and everyone knows who that one poster isI remember when he was being compared to Patrick Kane and people on here were saying he will never be in the same tier as Kane because Kane scores over 30 goals a year. Well guess who is scoring now.
Some posters on here were saying marner will never be as good as Barzal lol. He couldn’t hold Mitch’s jock.
Scores, assists, runs power play great defensively and has made our penalty kill one of the most dangerous in the league. Proving he is well worth his contract. Can do it all.
If you said he’s the smartest player in the game, you could make a compelling case and I guarantee a few NHL coaches wouldn’t disagree.Whatever "hockey IQ" is, he's gotta have one of the highest levels of it I've ever seen.
Marner is great but wait until the Leafs win 7 Stanley Cups before calling him their Tom Brady!THG says Marner is the heart and soul of the Leafs. I think he is like the Tom Brady of the Leafs - great at quarterbacking the puck
cant wait to see playoff Marner & Matthews BE THE difference this year
Yep. Marner is more Jim Kelly for now exceptJim actually led the Bills to advance to Finals and just didn’t win for a few years in a row.Marner is great but wait until the Leafs win 7 Stanley Cups before calling him their Tom Brady!
Watched London Knights games in his draft year, desperately wanted the Leafs to draft him. Was ecstatic when we got him, but the contract situation left a very bad taste in my mouth. Just the whole thing, bringing Auston into it too, made me hate him more than any Leaf ever.I remember the disappointment we all had as Leafs fans at the end of the playoffs last season. Marner didn't contribute much offensively in those 7 games. You can tell he took the criticism to heart. Instead of whining about it like Eichel has done to the media, he did what all great players do. He worked on his shot, worked on his hitting, his defensive side of the game, his stick work, you can tell he's worked his ass off this season to improve on every level and it shows on the scoresheet.
He was already a world class playmaker, now he's more than just a 20 goal scorer and a legit threat at all times to score a big time goal. Whether it's on the powerplay, on the penalty kill or at even strength, he's shown he can play in every situation.
You can tell Marner is tired of losing in the playoffs. I can sense it in his play, in his interviews, in his demeanor. He's a man on a mission, as are many of the players on the Leafs.
I have to say, it's been a privilege to watch such a pure elite generational talent such as him evolve. I consider him to be a generational talent, not sure non-Leafs fans would agree, but am I wrong in saying that? I don't think so. Matthews and Marner are both generational talents, with all the records they've been breaking, it doesn't really matter what I say or think, they've been proving it. I hope they continue that in the playoffs!
