Only one assist last night. I sure hope he breaks out of this slump in time for the playoffs.
I love how they can just give him the puck and and he'll take care of setting up the whole cycle. Or he'll just steal it himself.
He needs 10 points in 10 games to reach the markI think its very real he hits the 100 point mark.
I'm liking Mitch's mean streak lately. I've noticed the hits as have others in recent games. I love how he told Romanov to *%&# off last night!!
Keefe has no impulse control. 24 minutes for Mitch in a nothing game against the Habs. I really don't like his commitment to playing the shit out of Marner on the pk. I hope I am wrong but I want the top two guys to have full tanks of gas through round 1 and it seems like Keefe wants to start the party early. No rush buddy and beating the worst team in the league isn't critical.
Wonder where the Leafs and Matthews would be right now if Marner had been traded last summer, like many posters wanted?

Sure they want it but IMO it's far more important to be well rested for the playoffs, especially if you're hoping to go deep which is a two month grind. There were also many people who were blaming the coach for playing Marner too much so that he didn't have a full tank left for the playoffs.I don't think it makes any difference to Marner, and I think the boys see these points as a lot more important than we do (based on Keefe's postgame comments). They want home ice.

Bottom line, the players always want to play but it's the coach's job to be smarter than them, look at the big picture and make the decisions that are best for the team in the long run.
Not sure how confident we can be that his ice time will wind down considering how packed our schedule is the rest of the way (10 games in 17 days). I like the way he's been managing Marner's ice time this season, from 22:26 last season down to 20:52 so far this season, this seems like a very good idea. But now 24 minutes against MTL, how much is he going to play in the upcoming games? I don't know, seems like a bad omen. Not much room for rest over the next 2 weeks, but I think we will see the ice time wind down after the coming weekend, with the 2 double headers coming up.
I guess I just don't think it's a big deal right now and is nit-picking; the rest will come closer to the playoffs, especially if the seeds get locked in.
Holy crap Johnny Gaudreau has 58 primary points! A monster year somewhat obscured by a Vezina caliber goalie. He is going to destroy the Flames on his next deal waiving Marne's contract under their noses.
That's a very good sign IMO!!What isn’t he doing?
