They obviously needed more centers.I will never ever understand why Edmonton decided to move down and actively NOT draft Wallstedt. It is mindblowing to me.
Drafting and developing goalies was a serious problem for the Oilers throughout their endless rebuild. They couldn't seem to get it through their heads that they needed to do it as part of building a winner.I will never ever understand why Edmonton decided to move down and actively NOT draft Wallstedt. Perfect opportunity but chose to pass. Let’s see if they regret it for many years to come.I will never ever understand why Edmonton decided to move down and actively NOT draft Wallstedt. It is mindblowing to me.
It was reported that a few teams had an issue with something with him before the draft. Maybe it was in his mechanics, maybe his personality, I don't know, but he fell a bit for a reason, it obviously wasn't just Edmonton that was worried about him.I will never ever understand why Edmonton decided to move down and actively NOT draft Wallstedt. It is mindblowing to me.
They hitched their load to the Dubnyk wagon and subsequently not only screwed up his development, but didn't have a succession plan in place. At least now they have Skinner banging on the door.Drafting and developing goalies was a serious problem for the Oilers throughout their endless rebuild. I hope he plays like an old Markstrom. He kinda looks like young Markstrom:

Xavier Bourgault is looking real good. You won't find many Oilers fans that would redo that draft pick. If anything we would prefer to draft Oliver Nadeau over Luca Munzenberger with the 90th pick we traded down for.I will never ever understand why Edmonton decided to move down and actively NOT draft Wallstedt. It is mindblowing to me.
I know nothing about Edmonton's scouting department, but I personally viewed Wallstedt as the best goaltending prospect of the last 10 years...Perfect opportunity but chose to pass. Let’s see if they regret it for many years to come.
I was ready to drop kick my TV when they traded down.I will never ever understand why Edmonton decided to move down and actively NOT draft Wallstedt. It is mindblowing to me.
Even if they had their guy in the starting role they should have still built up a group of up and coming goalies around him. There's no excuse for not drafting at least one goalie per draft - especially if your team is in rebuild mode. Not that the Oilers ever took that rebuild seriously...They hitched their load to the Dubnyk wagon and subsequently not only screwed up his development, but didn't have a succession plan in place. At least now they have Skinner banging on the door.
Adams should have been put in a ward for a few weeks, insaneSabres took Rosen over him when our #1 need was goalie.
yep--I tossed my toys out of my pram when they did that. THIS is the dumbest move the oilers did in awhileI will never ever understand why Edmonton decided to move down and actively NOT draft Wallstedt. It is mindblowing to me.
Rosen over Wallstedt is a dud but I mean you still have UPK, Portillo and Levi....Sabres took Rosen over him when our #1 need was goalie.
If we can sign Levi or Portillo I'd agree. Worried about them leaving after college. I don't trust UPL.Rosen over Wallstedt is a dud but I mean you still have UPK, Portillo and Levi....
UPL is made of glass. Portillo is gone IMO,, Levi im cautiously optimistic , my worries would be close to 0 if they would have just made the obvious pickRosen over Wallstedt is a dud but I mean you still have UPK, Portillo and Levi....
