I know people hate +/-, but anybody giving you a +34 is absolutely worth that contract.

If you'd have told me eleven years ago that Alex Goligoski would be the best piece of that Pens-Stars deal......well, I would've loved to believe it but at the time I sure as hell didn't.

I think he probably has the best longevity however Neal probably had the best peak though short.

Well he's absolutely got the most longevity, considering Nisky retired two seasons ago and Neal seems to be getting by purely on PTOs. Looks to be in the minors currently.

Curious little statistical quirk, re: Neal, though, now that I'm checking his hockeydb page.....dude has bounced around five different teams since leaving Pittsburgh.....but he hasn't once missed the playoffs since the initial trade.

Must be a good luck charm or something, Blues should keep that in mind.

An excellent deal for Minnesota. The takes on the Wild-board are scary, though. It sounds like he was given a 13-year 100 mill deal there.

Minnesota's cap situation for the next few years means that virtually any addition has larger implications. Signing Greenway kind of seemed like the final nail in Fiala's coffin for that reason. Most of us are trying to figure out which coffin this nail is landing in, because there aren't many good candidates left.

Guy is at a 40 point pace as well. Majority of the points at ES. Not sure you'll find too many guys with that kind of production for that price.

He just started off hot and has since cooled down. By my count he has 3 points in his last 25 games.

I don't think this is quite what it looks like - 40 pts at $2m, which would be a steal.

Goligoski signed for $5m this year when the Wild had some post-buyout wiggle room - arguably an overpayment for what he had done in recent seasons and considering his age. He has played ahead of expectations, not top pair quality but maybe worth around his pay as a second pair guy. Then he signs for an underpayment for the next two years when the Wild are getting hit with the bigger buyout cap penalties. This feels like a combined deal, like they agreed to all of this a year ago.

second year is a gamble but first year at 2m is pretty great.

ha when he signed the original overpayment and it was suggested there was a underpayment deal to follow I was expecting a longer deal at $1m/yr. Hmm. Some wild fans are gonna blame a Fiala/Dumba loss on this deal somehow and that's too bad. It's not a bad deal at all for what he brings but it IS strange it comes on the heels of a couple healthy scratch nights. FWIW I like Kulikov more if Gologoski is destined to play bottom pair minutes in the future.

Wild's tweet about this signing has more than a 1,000 likes. The Wild board on this site is perhaps not the best source, I'd say a small group of people are behind most of the posts there.

I think, given the rising cap hit, the contract is not too bad, although it's not a steal, either.

He's been a healthy scratch for the past two games, and while he had an OK first half to the season, he's been abysmal for the last few months.
