He's a pretty run of the mill fourth liner who got to play with Keller and Schmaltz quite a bit.
Guerin's already promised those fourth line spots to other guys, regardless of whether Boyd is better or not (in some cases he is, in some he isn't).

Here comes Skinner
Boyd wasn't going to get a top 9 spot on MN, and didn't add enough physicality or grit to beat out anyone on the 4th line. It looks like he had a couple of decent years before he got injured last year, but he's now 31 yo...might catch on somewhere that wants a guy who knows how to play, and can fill a void created by injuries or cap problems.
