I wonder what we do once Hyman and RV come back. If this team had balls, they'd replace Perry with Kapanen, but I just dont see it. I think he likely goes back on waivers and gets picked up, even though he deserves a spot over a few of the geriatrics on this team.
Perry’s playing pretty damn good this year I think. But yeh, we are running out of spots on this team. If anyone sits to keep Podz and Kap off the waiver wire. It should be some combination of Ryan and Perry though.

I genuinely have not had one person in my 16 person hardcore hockey fan whatsapp group even mention this tournament yet. Nobody gives a rats a**. I don't want Oilers there.
It would be funny if McDavid told Armstrong that he can't attend because he received an offer sheet from his wife to go to Cabo for a few weeks in February.

Alas, McDavid has been screwed out of representing Canada numerous times so he'll be eager to play.

Skinner should be traded. There is no place for him on this team and that cap space could be very useful to help shore up the back end.

I want to keep the experiment going a bit longer. He’s like one step away from being impactful for us. If you watch him, he’s one of the only players outside McDrai that can create individual offence out of nothing. The skill and creativity is there, the execution has been shitty though.

On another note, I'm shaking my head at the thread on the mains comparing MacKinnon to McDavid. MacKinnon is a good player, but he's much closer to Draisaitl than McDavid. Connor is pretty clearly on a tier of his own.
It’s just that one dumbass going off for like 8 pages lol. I think most Avs fans don’t even think Mack is close to McD.

Should mention. Stetcher was impressive last night, could be close to taking another step. Very confident now and moving quick. Coffey might be working his magic here.

I hear you.
Its not that I think he cant be a good player. It wont be long before this team has an overabundance of forwards though and who does he play ahead of once Kane comes back?

Really have to see what version of Kane we are getting when he’s healthy…. I have my concerns. But maybe due to age, Perry and Ryan sit and that’s that. They can rotate in for underperforming forwards that could use a scratch.

You're young though. Canada Cup was awesome sauce. If they could make something like that grow again its some magic and increases NHL exposure much more. Its weird they haven't tried for a long time.
How long has it been since the last best on best tournament outside of the Olympics? The last Canada Cup was in 91 and I remember a real “World Cup” style tournament around 96. I can’t remember another one outside of that joke tournament in 2016 that wasn’t remotely close to being a World Cup let alone a best on best. So basically just one legitimate NHL sponsored tournament in the 30+ years that Gary Bettman has been commissioner. What a legacy.

I would be fine with that approach.
I am not against the team having offensive depth but just not at the expense of upgrading the defence.

Yep. So sad that the present generation of players hasn't seen anything like the Canada Cups which became life long memories for the players and the fans.

i see that as my fully healthy lineup but does the lineup get fully healthy? I don’t see how he can dress when everyone is going because guys like Brown and Janmark are too good for the PK. We’ll see what happens with Kapanen though. Looks good now but there’s a reason he’s bounced around and was waived.
Personally, I’m not ready to put Kapanen in a playoff lineup after a few games. I hope he keeps it going but I have my doubts given his history.

...Janmark hit the highest recorded speed in the NHL so far this season last night apparently.
