Oilers looking more and more like...the Oilers, the cup contending Oilers. Actually, they've played at a pretty high level all season but now they're scoring more normally, getting a few more saves and Special Teams have stabilized. 5 on 5 has been good all season tbh.
And at some point they’ll add Hyman, Kane and Ardvisson to the lineup.

Although Skinner let in the 2nd shot of the game, he didn't let in any bad goals. He made a few great saves as well but not really tested alot as the team played very well in front of him. I still think he is a backup goalie but he played well tonight.

Its the first game this season where I'm really feeling it with this squad. Gonna be interesting what happens when Hyman and Arvid come back. Kapanen is working off McDavid. He's really reading him decently on the cycle and this has also resulted in Nuge being more involved. So many players have trouble playing with McD and Kapanen just slots in and hits the ground running. Thats a wow.
Some good points. I’ll take a bit further- what happens with J Skinner. He played well with Henrique today and seems to be committing to the defensive side. Someone mentioned Kane-Drai-Podz line. Kane feeds off of having a linemate who is physically involved. Drai and Kane haven’t shown chemistry together- but that line may have something. I’ve also noticed a maturity in Drai’s game. He has been patient and not as frustrated with linemates- and he has quietly become excellent defensively.

Hyman - McDavid - Kapanen
Podkolzin - Drai - Arvidsson
Janmark - RNH - Brown
Skinner - Henrique - Perry

I agree completely. Yes they’ve tried Kane with Drai before and it wasn’t great, but if Drais other winger has good chemistry I think it would work. Kane just needs to play his game, be physical, hammer the puck on net as much as possible, they would be a tough line to handle.

Islands in the stream.
Stetcher was excellent this game. His skating and zone outlets allow Nurse to be better. Saw a lot of Nurse/Stetcher this game- more than Kulak/Nurse. I said it at the start of this season with many folks hating on me for it- Stetcher is better than people thing
They complement each other nicely I think. But especially as I say with Drai. Shoutout to Leon again owning the dot tonight. AV's were frustrated all night. One puck and they can't get it. Also clinical Oilers performance during the 4 on 4. AV's expect to own those.

Gonna focus on a play. Oilers shorthanded on the Brown penalty, 8mins left. Ekholm just intercepts a pass behind his net, does it cleanly and gets the exit. It was a Pronger play. Oilers break the AV's PP cycle and break their spirit. One of many plays that add up to the big W.

I still don't like Arvid. heh. I would really like to see Kapanen have a look with Drai too. Seems like his cycle game could really work with Leon. Nuge needs to be up on first line just for his 200ft game anyway. You can't have all riverboat gamblers on topline.

Really impressed with tonight’s game. Avalanche are a shell of the team that won 2 years ago, but they’re still dangerous.

Goalie-wise, Skinner was good when he had to be. And on the other end, not that he cost them the game (the Oilers were significantly better than the Avs tonight), Georgiev is absolutely one of the 10 worst starters in the league. Maybe even bottom 5.

Drai cleaned up in the dot. Did you notice how many passes the Avs forced because Drai was plugging up the lanes? Drai had the puck a ton in the neutral zone which just shows he was in the right spot defensively.
