Now, I'm not saying this player has the mental makeup of Berezin or anything so don't flame me. ;)

But It hit me last night sometime in the second period.

He's a little on the small side.
He's got rifle of a wrist shot and is accurate with it.
He can dangle.
He doesn't skate as well as his peers.

Am I totally off base with this comparison??

I've never seen this guy other than two games in this tournament, so I could be totally wrong, but even his skating style reminds me of Berezin. :dunno:

I don't think Berezin could ever danlge though.. He had one inside outside move, but that stopped working after a while and he became useless..

Berezin's career in the NHL:
1996-97 Toronto Maple Leafs NHL 73 25 16 41 2
1997-98 Toronto Maple Leafs NHL 68 16 15 31 10
1998-99 Toronto Maple Leafs NHL 76 37 22 59 12
1999-00 Toronto Maple Leafs NHL 61 26 13 39 2
2000-01 Toronto Maple Leafs NHL 79 22 28 50 8
2001-02 Phoenix Coyotes NHL 41 7 9 16 4
2001-02 Montreal Canadiens NHL 29 4 6 10 4
2002-03 Chicago Blackhawks NHL 66 18 13 31 8
2002-03 Washington Capitals NHL 9 5 4 9

Looking at those stats, didnt he win the Lady Byng sometimes?

You forgot the most important Berezin criterion: does not pass the puck. Ever. ;)

I think I made it very clear that I was comparing the physical attibutes of the two players.

nope, not really actually.

Berezin's Toronto stats are actually pretty impressive on the surface from start to end. Three 20+ goal seasons and a 37 one. Thank god the Coyotes got Markov as well.. could you get two more different Russians in attitude / aggressiveness?? A good bloke though.
